Engine numbers
I think 1816/62E is the original numero interno indicating this is a 330 America engine (first 330 engines were included in 250-numbering system); my guess is this engine came from parted out 5079GT. Would love to see the stamps to be sure, but I think somebody shaved the chassis number and copied t...

Max Meyer...
Max Meyer is believed to have manufactured (most of ) the paints used by Ferrari till mid 60's or so. It is quite clear, however, that color codes were documented for future reference and many Max Meyer codes have an equivivalent in Italver color charts and in some cases (especially during the trans...

Grigio MM 16650
As it may be of some interest to you, let me add that 250GT Series I Cabriolet 0795GT was also painted "Grigio MM16650" as a new car (now yellow). I am not aware of any further Ferraris originally painted in this color. I am very happy that whoever restored your car, kept the original color! Best wi...

Where is this car located?
I have a note of a late series II car (4063GT), being offered in LA Times by Frank Wilson, CA in April 1991 being described as: "concidering parting out, Cadillac V-8, transmission and some butchering to bodywork". I also have a note of GTO-style body modifications (whatever that means - at least th...

Gearbox number on GT/E...
To my great surprice I found out it is possible to fish out the gearbox number on a GT/E without taking the whole center console off. Last weekend I removed the small leather cover which gives direct access to overdrive unit and pressed a small piece of aluminum foil against the gearbox. One should ...

Dashboard.
I believe that only 50 first 2nd series cars were should have the 1st series dashboard (parts catalogue also indicates that these 50 cars may have a larger glove box, making this dash actually slightly different). 3373GT seems to be a later car (Series 2 #101), maybe one more dashboard was found and...

One should be very very careful with barchetta.cc; the site is filled with typos and 2065GT as mentioned with 2209GT is just another mix-up. Drogo built two bodied of angular Tadini design: 2067GT and 2209GT. These bodies have nothing to do with each other except being identical in design. AFAIK, 20...

Siluminum is aluminum alloyed with silicon for better casting (reduced shrinkage) and mechanical properties (far better strength). The problem when welding engine parts often is that analysis of the material tells nothing of the metallographic structure. The metallographic structure in an engine cas...

Chassis number is believed to be 5333GT.
It is believed to be a Replica built in series of 5. Another car of the series is owned by Lee Holman (6459GT).
See: http://www.holmanmoody.com/services/ferrari.htm
No further opinion - I prefer original cars.

Engine number
I am not sure whether there is a number stamped in the "traditional" position under the right header, behind a heat shield on these (365GTC/4 and 365GT/4 2+2) engines. Daytona engines are stamped on right skirt of block (under the heat shield, so very difficult to spot) as carbs are sitting right be...

Interesting!
According to Raab's Ferrari Serial Numbers I (2nd ed), #238 is the correct factory assembly sequence number allocaded for this car (15989). I find it a bit strange to find this number on components... as far as I know the assembly sequence number was introduced in 1960's to keep track of production ...

365GTC/4 Numbers
Yes, *00???* is the engine number. I recently spotted *00606* in 17095 (very early 365 GT/4 2+2), so I assume 365GTC/4 engines have same type of number lower in series. Your comment about body numbers supports my suspicion that all the unproductive ceased when Fiat took over. Makes sense, stamping e...

Body numbers 365GTC/4 and other 70's Ferraris...
As some of you already know, I'm particularly interested in different numbering systems used in Ferrari production. As you have stripped your car completely, this is a nice opprtunity to ask whether you found any interesting stamps on panels, interior parts etc? PF allocated your car (sn 15989) with...
