Re: Testing a zero pressure radiator cap
A little follow up here. I just pressure tested the entire system, exerting pressure at the overflow tank and found that the radiator cap is perfectly fine. My problem is a leak in the middle of the radiator itself. So, question answered! I just wish it would've been the cap, and not the radiator! T...

Testing a zero pressure radiator cap
I suspecct that the zero pressure radiator cap on my GTC is leaking. How do i test this? There is obviously pressure in the radiator from the hot coolant, so there must be a specification forr that cap, even though the cap itself is not exerting pressure. Any advice? Thanks, Steve.

Re: Daytona AC Belts
Since this discussion began in the late fall, my Daytona turned one of the AC belts over and shredded the other one to bits. It also did modest damage to the alternator belt. So we went back with the O'Reilly brand belt.#157270. As I said before, there is some subtle length differences in belts, des...

Re: Well, we need a first post of 2024….
Kevin and I and many others on this website have become friends vis-à-vis our shared love of these old cars. I've known about Fasthound 's GTC since it was purchased. Even though he's a graduate of the University of Michigan, he's a really good guy! I couldn't possibly mention all the people on this...

Re: Daytona AC Belts
Not sure if O'Reilly carries Dayco; I don't think so, but not certain. At any rate, exchanges with them were really easy, I should know ....I made five different trips with various belts. My car now knows the way to their store by heart! Stay in touch. Good luck, Steve

Re: Daytona AC Belts
Drew. I just went through this PITA with my 1972 American Daytona #14599. One of my belts just shred and was illegible, the other one we measured as best we could, and ultimately, we settled on two of these: A/C Belts=Gates/O’Reily/MasterPro 7270 (7/16 X 27 13/16) Alterator=7340. However the rearmo...

Re: TY Party @ Greenspans
I just came across this announcement for Tom's party, tho' I wouldn't have been able to make it anyhow. Although it would have been a treat to see other members of the gang, by far the biggest calling card would have been Michael's wife Dorie's World class cooking. Just in case anyone missed this mo...

Re: Weber DCZ6 accelerator pumps
Kevin, How do you use the liquid gold? Diluted? If so, with what and at what stoichiometry? Do you have easy access to non-ETOH fuel? steve

Re: Weber DCZ6 accelerator pumps
Yes, Dyke, I don't write as well as I should, but I only meant to run the engine 1 second to prove the ignition/spark part of the holy triad was present, and could thus be ruled out. If the accelerator pump squirters are AWOL, no amount of ether will save the day. steve

Re: Weber DCZ6 accelerator pumps
Is there a downside to spraying ether into the carb? It would provide a quick and dirty way to divide and conquer the holy triad.
I've heard it's bad for the engine, so, it's clearly notta long term solution; only a shortcut. steve

Re: Weber DCZ6 accelerator pumps
If none of the accelerator-pumps are working, you are using non-ETOH fuel, and the accelerator pumps worked before the e-pump rebuild, you gotta be sure that what's up stream is working. I know you just had the EFP rebuilt, but I would verify that there is good fuel flow from that e-pump. I believe ...
