Michael - yes, I have. It "appears" that the electric pump is not getting fuel from the tank. Since I replaced the cartridge in the large pre-filter, I am wondering whether there is too much air in the lines and the large filter bowl to allow the pump to pull any fluid. Since I know the lines and pi...

John - as stated in my post, I removed the electric fuel pump, and bench tested it. It pumped plenty of fluid. I also rebuilt the mechanical pump (which, upon inspection was fine, but I rebuilt it for good measure).

Thanks for that Tom and Jim. The pickup tube has been out (as far as I can get it - the strainer does NOT want to come through the hole), and it looks fine. As previously mentioned, I have blow compressed air through all the lines, including the pickup tube. I can clearly hear gasoline bubbling in t...

Less fuel for the fire

It figures. I finally backed 7137 out of the garage under its own power in six months and was ready to take it on its first round-the-block in four years. The engine was humming along nicely in the driveway when it just dies. Hmm, no fuel in the fuel bowl. Even though the gauge says I have gas, I mu...

FINISH THE #*$&$)@#(&$# CAR!!!! I'm finally beginning to see the proverbial light - but not sure if its the end of the tunnel or something more ominous. Will update my site as soon as it stops raining and I get a few shots.

Steve - the motorcycle "thing" at Laguna Seca was the MotoGP World Championship. This is the equivalent of Formula One in the motorcycle world. To make things even better - Nickey Hayden, an American, won and is currently leading the championship.

I thought I'd add just one more yearly plug for the Quail. I've exhibited cars and motorcycles there since the first one and it is a wonderful event. My wife and I gave up on the Concorso years ago. David - not just race cars. There are many categories and all spectacular automobiles (and motorcycle...

Installing front coil springs

I have been making a concentrated effort to finally get the car done for Monterey. Wishful thinking at best. One of the projects on the list was a front suspension inspection. Naturally, I found worn outer pins/bushings. While I found Kerry's article on this exercise very informative, I am not convi...

Rudy, I owned a 348 TS for a few years. Just like any other modern Ferrari (and I'm sure you know this already), the timing belts can be an expensive issue. Intermittent seat belt retractors is another common issue. The most annoying problem I had was the "sticky" plastic syndrome - also pretty comm...

I got a few emails from Bruce this morning with photos of the car - very nice. However, I think I'll need to re-evaluate what I think GTEs are worth.

I have a good friend ready to buy a GTE. (I just couldn't talk him in to a 330). We both agree, however, that the Heritage price is a bit ambitious. Anyone? Luke?

Yep, I'm out as well. Lots of stuff I could use, but can't justify it. Even though the wife says go for it. That, in itself, worries the hell out of me. Last time she told me to go ahead and buy something silly, we found out she was pregnant. I'm too old for that. The comic relief on the Q&A was wor...

Uh oh . . . here we go again. I used some aircraft stripper I got from my local automotive paint supplier. Can't remember the name, but it was pretty caustic stuff. I've also used the industrial variety of Jasco. They all seem to be pretty much the same. The only thing I can add to David's comments ...
