Re: Newbie question: Fans don't work

OK, I completed the circuit by putting those two wires together and the fans work. How do I prove that it's the thermocouple and not the cleanup I did on the fuse setup with the car cold? If I ground the thermocouple and apply 12V to the other terminal and it does or doesn't work, will that prove it...

Re: Newbie question: Fans don't work

There are two wires and I was about to try that and ran out of courage. I'll let you know. The fans are not at fault. thanx s

Newbie question: Fans don't work

I noted after driving the car to Costco to get a pizza (helluva deal, BTW) that my thermostatic fans don't work. Assuming that it's not the fans (and I'll apply 12V to them to check their function), how do you work around the sensor in the intake that allows current to flow to them ie: how would I t...

Re: Help! Should the seller fix these things?

I just don't think there's an easy way with any of these old cars. Case in point: A year ago I paid "an expert" (who ran a competing shop and is an NCRS judge) to look over a '66 BB A/C Corvette coupe. He missed the fact that the car's AC didn't work (selling dealer said it worked great), that it ha...

You're so right....when I was a resident in training, we were told "it's always better to be lucky than good"...don't I know it. s

Lucky Bastard...was loose steering on my 330

When my father-in-law was alive, he used to say that the good Lord looks after his fools, and that he was always first in line. With his passing some years ago, I have (gratefully) assumed that position! Got a good look at the steering box today and happened to notice that as I twisted the steering ...

Re: Loose Steering on my 330

Thanx again guys. I found the adjustment instructions for the steering box and will start on that this weekend, the "honey do list" allowing!
I completely agree that the car goes on the lift for a very careful inspection if this fails. Regards. steve

Re: Loose Steering on my 330

Rudy, that makes sense and reminds me of the adjustments I made on my '62 'Vette. Is there a protocol for this or is it listed in the owners manual? thanx again. s (BTW I had hoped to meet you at the Quail, but didn't see you at Tom's tent..probably afraid he's try to rope you into a purchase!)

Loose Steering on my 330

I replaced my tires (and wheels) about one year ago and have been noticing a gradual decrease in steering competence over that time. Seems like these two things would be related, but I'm not convinced they are. The tires are Sumitomo's and the problem feels like the front end's movement is only vagu...

11AM it is, at Tom's resto tent. (And I apologize for the mistake of thinking The Quail was Thrs AM...it's Friday AM. Such a lapse in memory might first be ascribed to old age, but I think it was the nice bottle of Catena Malbec my wife and I shared.) I'm about half way through the reinstall of the ...

getting together at Quail

Anyone want to set a time/place to meet at Quail? Not sure what my plans are for Thrs nite, so can't be certain I'll meet those of you who've been so helpful, at Tom's party. My friend John Dillman and I'll be there pretty much first thing Thrs AM. steve meltzer (and no, I won't be wearng any gold c...

When I got my 330, it had been worked on by a very reputable Ferrari mechanic and he put in BP6ES plugs. Are these wrong? If so, I perpetuated the problem by just putting in a new set of the same ones. The previous owner of my car put on one of those SF emblems, so does he owe me a gold chain? I'd s...

When I have one of those (rare) Eureka moments while working in the garage, I often bastardize the correct French “voilá” to “viola” (yeah, same ugly girl in my school as well, or a big violin). This was a classic example of me trying to punny, and written language not translating the meaning as pla...

thank you all for your advice...I used the hot Texas sun to heat up the heat shields, sprayed with the Krylon brand of "wrinkle paint" 3X about 10 minutes apart and viola (or something like that) they turned out well. My car is far from concours, or I would have stripped them completely, but even wi...
