Re: Fuel Pump(s) Reliability
Both the mechanical and electric pumps have one-way valves that keep fuel from draining back to the tank. They also keep fuel from just circulating in a circle between the mechanical and electic pumps and not filling the carbs. Usually when these cars have a fuel delivery problem, one of the valves ...

Re: Weber Carb Gears
DCL's were originally painted Black by Weber. They are made of an aluminum alloy, and not the later (and cheaper) Zamac alloy used in the DCZ.

Re: 250 GTE Piston set question
Both JE and Venolia are good brands of pistons. However, just so everybody knows, about 6-8 years ago, the major people at JE left after the company was sold. They regrouped as CP Pistons. We have used JE in our Ferrari vintage race engines with no proiblems, but now we use CP for all our pistons.

Re: Transmission and Differential Oil
In the early 1970s, I researched Shell S6721A. It was a "factory fill" made up for Ferrari that contained Spirex 90 (which is a EP Hypoid oil) and a Limited-Slip additive. This was developed for the 275 transaxle and saved the factory from having to purchase and add a limited-slip additive separately.

John: Your PF Coupe is an open diff, no limited-slip.

Re: Transmission and Differential Oil
John: 330GT has answered correctly. Autobloccante (automatic blocking) is Limited-Slip Differential.

Re: Transmission and Differential Oil
Which cars had limited-slips? Not an easy question to answer as most anything was possible with Ferrari. However, as a general rule, street 250's (PF Coupe, 2+2, Cabriolet, Lusso) did NOT. The Berlinettas and Californias did. It appears that all 330's DO. Transaxle cars DO. Unfortunately. the old Am...

Re: Transmission and Differential Oil
Synthetic Gear Oils are transmission rebuild in a can! I have used them for years and found definite shift improvement every time. As for the rear axle, if the car has a limited slip differential, do not forget to put a tube of limited slip additive in with the new gear oil.

Re: Another 40 DCN question
Steve: American specs are Hole #1, European specs are Hole #2. the Pump cam is also different between the two, so you have to change jets, transition port sizes, float levels, pump cams and pump arm holes to convert correctly from American to European. You are not ready to undertake that project yet.

Re: Fuel Pump(s) Reliability
You will find double banjos on a number of Ferrari's drum brake applications and they seal brakeline pressure, so fuel presure is not an issue.

Re: Does 275 GTS have a fuse box cover?
I have been down this road many times. In spite of what the "experts" will claim, some cars had them and some did not. However, there is an easy way to tell which is which. If the car still has the ORIGINAL heavy board that the fuse boxes and relays are mounted on, a car with a cover will have holes...

Re: Bonnet Latch Problem
John: Does the right side of the hood raise up, or does it move sideways? If the problem is in the hood raising on one side, you can play with the height of the hood rubber bumpers by shimming them to get the hood to be very solid when it is closed and that should stop the movement.

Re: Daytona Carb problems
Steve: You will have to do some general carb cleaning to remove the abrasive after you have flattened the carb bases, so you cannot hurt anything by making sure the internal passages are open. You can leave the Bypass Lock Nuts loose after you have set the screw. However you may need to just snug th...
