Re: Door hinge pins and alignment

Thanks Cory, the check strap in your pictures, Tom assures us is not fitted to Steve's Scagletti built car. If it were it would be the solution to his problem. PS. Your shell, floor and rocker panels look much better condition than mine!!! Steve, from your pictures I'd guess the casting of the hinge...

Re: Door hinge pins and alignment

Some of the Scaglietti built cars had limiters built into the hinges. Some of the PF cars had check straps. Each car model is different. Tom Thanks Tom, I didn't know that some scagletti built cars had no check strap...interesting. With regards to Steve's problem, I'd like to know how cars without ...

Re: Door hinge pins and alignment

Steve

Sounds to me like the issue is the checkstrap, not the hinges if the door swings wide open without some resistance or restraint.

Re: Lower rocker panel trim

Here’s my restored upper side trims, they were more dented and scratched than the ebay ones. There was even grinder damage where someone in the past had cut or repaired the bodywork and carelessly run across the trim with a grinding disc. I beat out the dents, filed out the scratches and worked thro...

Re: Lower rocker panel trim

The lower ones are most probably Aluminium (dont have any yet to confirm), but the upper ones in the ebay listing aren't.

Re: Lower rocker panel trim

SLM,

I'm afraid your incorrect. The trims ARE stainless.

I have spent many hours restoring mine, and I can 100% assure you they're Stainless Steel.

Re: Question on 330GT 2+2 dash vents

Thanks Cory,

So are you saying that the black paint shown in my picture 2 on the vanes leaving about 2mm of chrome showing on the edge in the first post is correct?

Question on 330GT 2+2 dash vents

Can anyone help with the final finishing of the 330GT 2+2 dash vents? I managed to buy a pair of them in very poor condition and figured out how to get them apart with feeler gauges for dressing, polishing and replating. (Picture 1) My question is….. The old vents had been painted black over the bad...

Restoring 330GT 2+2 rear quarter window latches

Along with the door handles I have got the rear quarter window latches back from the platers. I should have taken a “before” photo, but forgot. Take my word for it they were awful. I drilled out the flared ends of the pins on one side and drifted them out so that the parts could be cleaned up for pl...

Re: Lower rocker panel trim

Here they are. It pains me to see holes drilled in these trims. I saw a beautiful RHD silver 330GT 2+2 Series 1 4HL at Goodwood Revival parked in the pre 73 car park with two wood screws in this trim. The front one was a cross head screw and the rear a slot screw. The wood screws were countersunk h...

Re: Lower rocker panel trim

Thanks Darren. I have an email into to them to check there availability. $100 each. Unclear if they are NOS or used. Amazingly enough the site shows the bolts costing more than the trim! Hi Cory, I think you are looking at the Jacking hole plugs (something else I gotta make) and mistaking them for ...

Restoring 330GT 2+2 Door Handles

I have just finished restoring the door handles for my 330GT 2+2. Since I bought only a shell, I had to find the handles. On a very limited budget all I could get were two VERY badly corroded, pitted and broken handles. So here’s how I set about restoring them. The lock operating paddles in Mazak (M...

Re: Lower rocker panel trim

I will be able to post pictures and dimensions tomorrow. These things are basically a long stick of metal, so they should be really easy to fabricate (especially after what you've been through Darren!). Exactly Peter, at £65 each they are far far too rich for me when you could make a pair for £10 !

Re: Lower rocker panel trim

If you expand the picture it does show 4 holes equally spaced, so you are quite correct Pete.
