Let me take an informal poll for those that care to respond -- color combination for the Lusso. I've always tended to buy cars with unique colors so that they are not "run of the mill." I was looking at BMW Z8's last year and concluded the only color combo's that were striking enough for my eye were...

Mike - I'm switching back to Decaf tomorrow morning :) Just having a little fun pointing out the obvious. Auctions are a unique phenomenon whereby demand is created and "value" is manipulated but the promoter has no liability for deals gone bad. It is truly an anamoly among standard business operati...

Rudy - given the horrible auction experience I had with Bonhams on my 330 America (they basically lied about the condition of the car in their auction catalog, on the phone, and then "misplaced" the Condition Report on the day of the Gstaad Auction) -- I'm not sure I can return to another auction ho...

Overheated Muscle Car Market

Lots of good points, but let me offer a few interesting comments: (1) Ian - I'm sorry mate (as someone who have lived in the UK 4 years and done business in Europe for 15 additional years) but European car fraud/greed at auctions is as prevelent as the US. My 330 America is an example of some of the...

WANTED: 250 GT Lusso

OK Guys - its been a year (maybe more) since I've been on this chat board, despite reading a few things to keep abreast of what's going on. For those that may remember, my 330 America restoration has entered its 3rd year (if you can believe it, because I can't). When I joined this chat group in 2003...

I think the 196 Sport Dino or 246 Sport Dino is the way I'm going to go and I've found a couple superb recreation cars in Europe with all Ferrari components. Prices range from $90K to $180K -- the latter being too much for me to justify for a non-factory built car. Since there were only three Fantuz...

Art - thanks....just spoke to Shaughnessy and got some good advice on this. Sounds like if I'm going to go replica, I should stick to one that's already done correctly and then beware that the secondary market may (or may not) be good later. I need to chew on this some more -- if the Barchetta optio...

Thanks David -- but again I'm looking at 1950's vintage racers. If you check out Barrett-Jackson's website for the upcoming Scottsdale auction, you'll note Lot 407 which is a really cool BMW Factory recreation of the 1938 328 that won Mille Millia. Its got a 2.5 litre engine from the 2002 Tii pumpin...

In my opnion, the Lambo 350 GT Spyder looks similar to a Ferrari 275 GTSthe Maserati Vignale looks like a 250 PF Cab (even has '63 GTE/'64 Lusso style front lights) -- nice boulevard cruisers, but nowhere as sexy as the 1950's racing spyders that I'm thinking about. The Islero is really nice looking...

WANTED: Maserati/Ferrari Barchetta Recreation

Hey all -- looks like lots of good stuff happening with guys getting new cars. I hope to have my 330 America back after its been tied up over 18 months undergoing a restoration. Gents, I need your help. I'd like to add a 2-seater to my stable, but the Lusso's are now officially out of my price range...

250 GTE Front Clip

Guys - I sold the front end that I had but still have a very good condition aluminum hood if you need it. My 330 America is nearing completion after TWO YEARS (ugh).....should have it by March 2006 -- assuming Frank Segreto stays well and gives me back the interior. I'm looking for a badly damaged 2...

Bluecat is indeed a gentleman and as I'm coming up on my 2 year anniversary of owning 330 America (#5061) I'm still eagerly waiting for it to come back from restoration so I can drive it on Texas roads. Looking forward to entering it next year. Frank Segreto's heart attack (thank God he seems to be ...

Tom/Guys - I got my guages (all 7) back from Mike at DM today and they look fantastic (new lenses, new face plates, bezels polished, etc.) Mike has solved the problem of not having the template for the speedo in MPH and mine looks great -- like it came from Ferrari in 1963. I posted this info in ano...

330 America Restoration Update

Updates: * Interior removed and shipped to East Coast Auto Trim (Frank Segreto). Leather to be ordered and received in January; upholstery to happen in Februa...
