There is a centering bushing in the end of the driveshaft that rides on the output shaft at the rear of the transmission. These get dry, and will cause a significant vibration. Disassemble, clean and regrease, and you should see a notable difference.

Zinc chromate is still available from aircraft supply sources. Don't make a big deal about it, lest the environazis find out and take it away.

as I recall, there was a thread here some time back about this problem. The gist of it was that the inner part of the rim (between the bead seating area) must be painted to seal the wheels. If these wheels were made in the same manner as Campy's other period offerings, they were made of a magnesium/...

go to www.permatex.com there is a search box. put in "2B" and it will take you to the product. It is old fashioned stuff- shellac base- doesn't set up hard. It is widely available at auto parts stores. I worked for a BMW dealer in a past life, we used it for the express purpose of sealing studs for ...

The 3M stuff is 20 bucks a quart. The gun seems to be in the 60-80 dollar range.

The stuff in the spray cans is not the same, and is a big mess. Its ok for the underside of the car, but I'd never use it in the interior of the car. Smell and consistency is like driveway sealer.

The stuff is called "body schutz" I don't have a link, so just google that phrase.

3M makes it, as does Wurth. The Wurth variety is OEM on most German cars.

My uncle owns Lusso #5931, the 9th to the last one built. He's had it since 1981, and I've done some of the maintenence work over the years, and also driven it extensively, perhaps more than he has. He has a 1969 Porsche 911E, the Ferrari, and a '67 Jag E roadster. I drove all 3 on the same day rece...

It may not be an issue for all you high rollers, but I've found a substitute for Dynamat Ultra that is 10% of the cost. I have compared the technical specs on the Dynamat site to measurements taken from the substitute, and they are identical. The stuff is called Peel and Seal roll roofing. It comes ...

window regulator

Jay Leno made a great statement some years back regarding one of his Dusenbergs. He said that back then, technology was expensive, and labor was cheap. Now, the technology is cheap, and the labor expensive. FWIW, Alfas and Fiats have almost identical regulator assemblies. I was a professional auto m...
