Koll,

A bench top grinder is the only way to go with a wire wheel. The drill doesn't turn fast enough, and a dremel doesn't produce enough torque.

You can see from this picture, I've put some mileage on my wire wheel!

Josh, I could get you the name of the guy Francois uses in CT, but recently, he's had some quality control issues, so half a batch had to be sent back. Koll, I usually use the wire wheel, like Pete, to remove rust, but am thinking about getting one of those parts tumblers if I do another car. Sandbl...

Thanks guys.

Just think, if I keep this work up on more cars, how good I can get in 10-20 years!

Hello everyone. If you own a Ferrari, could you please edit your profile settings to show which model, and year car you own? It will help, certainly me, in answering technical questions without having to remember what car you have. Click the "profile" button above, and add the information in the "si...

Another thought on the silentbloc bushings: They use the rubber in tension, so don't tighten the bolts that locate the control arms until the car is on the ground, or at least compress the suspension before locking everything in. If you don't do this, the rubber may wear out faster because they'll b...

Silentblok is the name of the manufacturer of the rear bushings. They are rubber bushings that are vulcanized to the inner and outer steel sleeves. I think they're available from the usual parts suppliers, but I think they're also available from a silentbloc supplier if you have the correct measurem...

Hi Rad, Normally I would have my digital camera with me, but I had my Contax with me, so you'll have to wait for me to get them developed! If no one gets you pictures, remind me in a few weeks and I'll see if I can get them posted. Yale, I did call the one who wrote the letter at one point and talke...

Hi Kerry,

Could be. I was on the phone with my wife, asking her to write down the number for me because I didn't have anything to write on. Maybe the cell phone call was garbled.

Rockefeller Center Ferrari Show

I stopped by Rockefeller Center in NYC to see a 40th year celebration of Ferrari sponsered by Christies, the auction house. A 250 GTO, Lusso, 400 Superamerica, 365GT 2+2, and Daytona Spyder, were present. I also got my first chance to see the new 612 2+2. MAN IT LOOKS LONG! One car that was interest...

Hi Erik,

Don't worry about me! I still consider a Ferrari built after 1972 as being a "newer" car! The V-8 thing,...well, that's another thing! ;-)

From the looks of it, the Dash probably has to come out, or at least it will make it easier to get it out:

Hi Roger,

Here's shot of my horse before I sent it out for chome plating. I don't know if it's the same as the one that goes on your car, but it's flat, and you can really see the details Chris describes.

Here's picture of my car during assembly. Most of it was painted with Krylon dull aluminum paint, which has just the right finish.

Another handy item to have for gasket making is a leather punch. With homemade gaskets, or trimming holes of ready made gaskets, a leather punch allows you to make pretty accurate holes. Never assume the gasket kit gaskets actually fit. The holes are usually slightly off, so check them for fit, and ...
