Tom, I know your probably really down at the moment so let me put it back in perspective as someone usually does for me when I'm down. It's a problem - yes - but it could have been much much worse taking the piston, cylinder and head. Had it gone that badly, it still wouldn't be what many of us real...

I'm told the glass fuel filter in the engine bay is also a fuel pressure regulator. I have purchased a new ethanol safe diaphragm for it and wanted to check to see that the pressure is still correct... of course I don't know what that pressure should be so it's tough to check. I'm guessing it should...

Search function down?

Is the search function down? I'm trying to find info on the glass fuel filter/regulator pressure and even searching "filter" finds no matches.

Congrats on the South Bend and kudos on your conduct with the seller. Too many families that have been hit with similar struggles, ours included, and it's always comforting to witness human kindenss and dignity from another. It helps foster hope at times when it's tough to have any. I haven't used a...

Richard, many thanks for the info. this morning I found a decent manual online for the Jaguar xk-150 Dunlop brake setup and it looks identical to whats on my Lusso. There's a local Jag parts house that may have the rebuild kits in stock and I may go down just to have a look at the kit parts. The Jag...

Chris,

understood but I'm told Cad plating in generel is impossible to source and that bright Zinc has been used instead, as well as nickel, hence the question.

Dunlop Caliper rebuild questions.

Sorry for all the questions but I've started rebuilding my brake system and the Dunlop calipers are a bit different than I'm used to so here goes. 1. Can anyone describe the function (and proper fit) of the pin that goes into the backside of the piston? 2. Does this feature require removal or servic...

thanks guys... it figures mine is body color and it looks like it was NOT repainted when the car was repainted in the eighties (we believe the only repaint). I looked at some pics of Mike Regalias (McQueen) Lusso and couldn't tell for sure how his was done. Do you think it's possible some were body ...

Lusso - Fuel tank fill pocket color?

In looking at some photos of Lusso trunk compartments, I've seen versions where the pocket area around the gas tank fill are painted body color, and others where it is black. Does anyone know what is correct for this area?

John T,

Another way to cut that eccentric groove fairly easily is with a 4 jaw chuck on a lathe. Many lathes came with these chucks but they rarely get used since the advent of CNC machines. I know mine has one and it hasn't been used it about 2 decades but, it would be perfect for this.

actually, I can't take credit for this idea... it was Mr. Vardanians but I liked it. His suggestion is to remove the light and cut a strip of thin cardboard or mylar to make a template. Shape the strip loosly into a ring and let it expand inside the light pocket with some of it sticking out past the...
