an update: the engine is now ready to be refitted in the car. due to the size and weight will install the block first and then assemble the heads on (this is also the way i had removed the engine from the car) will check compression before actually starting up will keep you posted watch this space!

Thank you for your input Tom K, Tom Y and Mike. Have found the shop manual for the 330 GT-The engine is basically the same- a two cam engine, and am following the Torque specs from that. The assembly is progressing now, and hope to report back soon! Would have been completely lost without you guys.....

By the way, forgot to add: i have bought Ferrari Tunung tips and techniques, and have registered on the Ferrari owners site. The service manuals are not available on the owners site (only owners manuals) and the ones that i got from Ron are for the 330 GT 2 + 2 WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE A DIFFERENT engine...

An update: The heads are off-besides changing the gaskets have decided to valve grinding.The valves were not stuck-however due to the excess carbon being generated they were not closing fully and were therefore causing compression leakage. Some progress-Got the engine started! Couldnt run it for very long though as the neighbours started complaining about the smoke (due to the oil that i had put into the cylinders). Will run the engine for a shortwhile everyday to burn off this excess oil, and then take the car for a tune up-will keep...

An update: Have now fitted the carbs on the car, changed the fuel line, changed the fuel filter, cleaned the fuel tank etc as described earlier. We cranked the engine, but the car did not start (cleaned the plugs etc-usual cheks)-i am told because the car has been lying shut for so long-almost 9 mon...
