Daytona exhaust
Tom, Your heart must have sunk when that drain plug broke! ... BTW: I have to have a chuckle at Francois' gas weld. Very obvious that he really did work at Ferrari during that period as that weld really looks like the welds we see in pictures and typical for Ferrari. Wonderful, keeping this car so o...

365 GTC/4 airbox/cleaner
Tom, Have you ever thought of just leaving the air horns off? MY Alfa 71' 1750GTV has a large airbox but no air horns. Most in the Alfa community believe the factory airbox is at least as efficient as running air horns. But air horns minus the airbox do sound better, but with the 365 GTC/4 you would...

Re: Painting a V12 engine
Matt,
I'm surprised to read you painted Alfa 105 series aluminium parts as they were never painted by the factory. Alfa Romeo castings were not porous like Ferrari ones of the 60's.
I wonder what year Ferrari stopped painting their engines?

Rusty GTE
Would it make sense to get the underneath soda blasted or something? Being an Alfisti I strongly believe rust never sleeps and grows so if I see it I get rid of it ...
I hope it can be saved.

365GTC/4 air cleaner
Tom, Surely one could mount a remote air cleaner down say under the front guard nose with a hose from the air cleaner to the standard air box inlet hose. While yes not standard would be a little difficult to notice and make air cleaner changes easy. Otherwise I'd be interested in a roll road dyno co...

Can't believe how vulnerable that radiator is
Surely the radiator did not need to be that big ... well I guess it had to be, but wouldn't last 5 minutes in Sydney.

Attending events
Tom, I think the economy might have something to do with the lack of numbers of older Ferraris. Lets be honest it's not just the entry fee but the accomodation and travel expenses and they do add up, plus some of the older, especially 2+2 Ferraris, are owned by real enthusiasts not just wealthy peop...

Re: Lining up inlet manifolds to ports
All,
Please note my question is a theoretical one only . I'm just curious, and Steve's post has indicated that this area is indeed troublesome.

Lining up inlet manifolds to ports
Tom, I was just looking at your latest post: 2/19/13, 365 and 330, and the last photo shows a close up of a manifold and the heads assembled on the block. I can see that vertical studs are used to pull the manifolds down into the V, but what ensures the inlet ports line up AND sufficient surface cla...

Airport baggage
Tom, I used to work for a company that made airport baggage conveyors and I just want to ensure everybody does NOT put important old car parts in a bag and expect them to arrive safe and sound at the other end of their flight, let alone have the worry about their bags being lost on top of that. Ther...

Re: 1st time Ferrari Owner
Best of luck. Maybe the engine out of a Alfa Romeo 2600 might make a period acceptable replacement ... but then we should not be robbing Paul to save Jack, I guess. The 2600 engine is a straight 6. They would be easier to find than a Ferrari unit and substantially cheaper, and possibly not powerful ...
