I recall interior pics of 250 GTO's which show a shift gate.

I would try Newco Products. He's listed in the Suppliers page of this website. He has a lot of vintage hoses for Ferraris. I've delt with him (I believe his name is neil) in the past. Seems like a good guy.

This attitude of the factory stinks. When these cars were relatively new, they were not collectible, nor did they retain great value. Thus, cars crashed, were misused, and unused, resulting in repairs, replacements and swaps. Back then, it was no big deal to exchange engines or transaxales to rebuil...

My two cents: A fuel starvation problem, which could come from several sources: (1) poor performing mechanical fuel pump, (2) obstructed fuel lines, (3) obstructed carb jets, (4) debrisi n fuel tank. My bet: faulty mech fuel pump. The car overheating is a red herring, I think (though that separate i...

Hi Leo, The brakes on my car work well, in that they have good stoppping power with moderate pedal effort. At first, I was put off by the bakes, as the pedal wasn't very linear. By that, I mean you would depress the pedal without much happening, and then a little more pedal movement brought on a lot...

I think that there is a misunderstanding about the power of the 250 GTO vs. the later 330 (209 engine) cars. The GTO's 3 liter engine was rated 300 hp @ 7,500 rpm, while, as an example, the 330 GTS's 4 liter 209 engine was rated 300 hp @ 7,000 rpm (from Fitzerald, Merritt & Thompson"s Book). Thus, t...

A couple of years ago I was having a similar discussion with Mike Sheehan. He said Caribou Engineering in So. CA can do such engine mods, but at a price. In Particular, we were talking about the 209 engine, which stock, is nominally 300 hp with 3 twin choke Webers. Here's what was involved for 400 h...

I believe the stroke of the mechanical fuel pump can be adjusted. That is, the pump may not move much fuel because it's mechanism isn't moving enough. I had a similar problem and my mechanic did a "quick" adjustment (though, I wasn't there to see what was done).

The vacuum would motivate things to move towards the engine, not towards the booster and vacuum line. That's not to say that crap can't clog the line or a one way valve from other sources (such as a detiorated hose).

I recently did work on the charging system of my 330 GTS. It too uses Jaguar issue Lucas alternator and voltage regulator. The diodes were shot in the alternator. This is what the guy at the rebuild shop told me: The Lucas alternators are what you would expect: weak and prone to failure. Their tende...

Lucas Windshield Wiper Motor

I recently had to rebuild the Lucas Windshield Wiper Motor for my 330 GTS. It's not nearly as easy to find a repair shop for wiper motors as it is to locate a Lucas Alternator repair shop. Through the recommendation of a friend I hit on a good find: Asom Electric 1204 McClellan Dr. Los Angeles, CA 9...

I recommend Baldwin Oil Filters from Part Source (has air and fuel filters, also). Use the same filter in both positions. My oil recommendation is Castrol 20W50. No sysnthetic: Too thin and will leak.

Hey Guys, After reading this thread and the referred thread, I took Mr. Burdiski's recommendation and bought 14 NGK7EVX's from monarchproductsinc.com. Monarch called me today to inform me that NGK is discontinuing this plug (platinum tip), and substituting a resistor plug. So, what's the consensus f...

Dear Koll, This is the sacrificial system I use in my 330 GTS: I purchased the Radiator Saver (#74-7496) from the on-line catalogue of J C Whitney. This saver has a lead anode held by a bolt, wire, and a metal ring that sits in the neck of your radiator fill spout. The lead anode is no good for alum...

Speaking of corrosion: I place a sacrificial Magnesium anode, suspended under the radiator cap, to prevent corrosion. Magnesium is the best material when protecting Aluminum.
