Hi John:

Was the engine completely warmed up when you had #80? Seems a bit high.
Were you still at the same speed when it dropped to #40?
Is it #80 again the next time you drove on the freeway at the same speed?
Finally, what are the Factory specs for oil pressure at various RPMs?

Cheers

Brake Pads/Calipers

Just to hark back to brake pads for a minute (sorry to drag this thread to a stop :) ) I think that A.D better look elsewhere for front pads. I checked out the buybrakes.com website and the vehicles they list as using the same front pads as the 365GT have quite different pads. I happen to have manu...

Looks like wear to me - I have a wear spot just above the scuff plate which is quite similar. My foot overlaps the scuff plate onto the carpet, and I guess the previous owner(s) had a similar foot position "on" the pedal.

Demonstrates originality I guess.

Hi Yale: Souping up - well just a little. When the engine was being rebuilt I went with a bit higher compression ratio pistons. Gives a little more torque at low speeds, probably very little at high engine speeds, where breathing gets to be the limiting factor. Nothing else, unless I upgrade the ign...

Spark Plugs

Thanks guys NGK it is: Art : Is the heat range different than normal for a "new" engine, about 3K miles, but with 9.5:1 CR? Is there a specific plug number I should ask for? There were several mentioned, all seemed to be OK for the cars they were being used in. The engine seems to be broken in by no...

Hi Rudy:

What heat range do you use, and are they resistor plugs?

Spark Plugs

Hi Guys: What is the current thinking regarding spark plugs for a 330 GT (9.5:1 CR) The archives seem to suggest a preference for NGK plugs (various heat ranges, depending on use). They all appear to be conventional plugs. Are there any virtues in using the platinum tipped plugs, or even the newer i...

I got my certificate finally - took almost 2 months. Exterior color is Rosso Rubino 106-R-12 Interior is Pelle Beige VM 3218 Do we have a consensus yet on what Pelle means? And what do the numbers mean - Paint code, Leather dye batch, or what? As an aside, the beige is not what I expected - It looks...

Finding spelling corrections

Yale: When I can't guess it I have to resort to copying the offending word into my word processor and spell check it. But a couple of times I have so garbled the spelling MS Word can't figure out what to correct. Muy embarrasing! If my back will let me I will seriously consider joining you. Cheers a...

East Coast Pocono Italian event

Hi Guys:

Yale mentioned (in the Monterey thread) the Pocono event - can someone tell me more about it?
And how many besides Yale are going to go?
I kind of like the idea.

Brake Switch

Just for historical interest the brake switch with the 1/8" NPT fitting was used in all Fords from 1939 to at least 1956 (probably longer), VWs for many years, as well as other cars. The only difference I have found is that the early ones take the large bullet connector, and the later ones a smaller...

Compression Ratio

The Static Compression Ratio (CR) is not the effective compression ratio under load. It is merely a mechanical ratio. The term Volumetric Efficiency (VE) is the measure of how much air/fuel charge actually gets into the cylinder. An engine which breaths well will have a higher VE and thus higher cyli...

Underhood Light

My trunk light seems to be similar (without the switch)
The underhood lights are nothing like it. Will take pictures if wanted and put them on my Web site, it needs updating anyway.
