Rebuilt Radiator Problems - Generic?
This radiator thread is hits home for me. I have developed a seep at the bottom of the top tank of my rebuild radiator - not enough to pull it yet and fix it again, but a tad unsightly. While Charlie Pierson was redoing the mechanics of my car - he had the tank out twice for the same thing using the...

The failures in aftermarket bearings that I know about, assuming they are installed and lubed correctly, turned out to be heat treating problems. I have bent wheels, broken suspension components, and destroyed tires in a variety of cars, but the wheel bearings have always survived. Pittsburgh in the...

And by the way - what did the problem turn out to be when you drove back from Tom Yangs party? Hi Warren, The problem Yale had were a second set of front wheel bearings failed. Tom It really looks like there is a generic problem with replacement parts, if I understand Toms description right. I have...

Hi Yale: And I was just thinking about getting another Pertronic system! If your electric fuel pump wasn't working, it is something more than the ignition. Sounds a lot like a battery problem, except for not starting when jumped. Good luck with the continuing adventures. And my sympathy- I had sever...

Call me skeptical
The sound from an engine and exhaust system that small would not be anything like a full sized car/engine. Acoustic waves do not scale in that way. It appears to me that the video cuts to a picture of the tailpipes of a a real Ferrari and sound. But this does not take away from the model - it looks ...

Muscle Car Sales
Hi Art: I have not seen Keith Martins comments - but my view is, it is not the cars themselves - they are what they are - If they are buying them for nostalgia go for it. But people who think a car with some unique assortment of accessories and options is a rare car should look up the word rare. If ...

Alternative to watching B-J
Probably many are following the Old Photos Thread on FerrariChat - Vintage section - but if not look in on it. You will find something well worth looknig at in the 100 pages(so far) of of photos. At lot, but far from all, are race pictures. Often with full ID of the cars, drivers, and venues. My fav...

Ethics of Auctions
Can someone comment regarding the responsibility of the Auction to describe the merchandice accurately. For instance, if the seller provides information which is incorrect - either out of ignorance or deception, does the auction have any responsibility to point out the error. I would guess not - rea...

Pull liners?
My Mechanic (was ALGARs V-12 specialist) was strongly against pulling liners unless absolutely necessary. He claimed the problem was getting a good seal again at the bottom. His attitude was the traditional "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". And you should have more performance - if you bore the cyl...

Feel of different Cars
I would bet a power steering and A/C car would handle differently the same car without those sissy add-ons. And a lot of the difference would be the 200+ additional pounds on the front wheels.

"now I have to go abuse "tongascrew" on F-chat who just stated that it was ok to turn old 2+2s into replicas because it "is not economically viable" to restore them . . . ." I missed that statement - abuse is not enough. That is like saying the statue of Venus should be calcined into lime because of...

Speedometer (and mayby Tach) lub.
My speedometer was squealing at times - pulled the cable and lubed it - but still was noisy. The brass? fitting the cable plugged into looked dry so I dabbed a bit of lubriplate (a soft white grease doped with teflon) on it and all has been well since. The bushing it ran in was apparently dry, and n...

Small Contribution
In absolute dollars I don't know if my check is small, medium or large (that I doubt). But it is less that the site is worth. Also your company at the party is worth something. I just hope you don't get so many donations you retire to one of the islands you flew over in your "vacation". Cheers and m...

Winter Work
Project: Pull Tranny and get rebuild - when the rest of the mechanics were redone and we were running out of time, it was just resealed and regasketed. But 4th Gear has a bad vibration - sounds like a bearing. MIght as well do the whole thing, even though the syncros et al are OK. Will also check dr...
