It's also hard to get the darkened compound out from under your fingernails once finished! A set of alloy "driving wheels" makes practical sense, but I can't do it, for me the wire wheels are a key part of the car's appeal. I got through mine in only 8 hours, with my wife's help, for my first big sh...

In case it matters, DFI/2's were fitted on later 330GTC/S cars as well. DFI/5's went onto 365's.

The AC Delco Professional series cleans up well (peel off the labels to give a plain black box), is sealed and maintenance free, and the brand scored very well in Consumer Reports' recent test.

I got mine from an independent auto parts retailer.

At the Monterey Historics, jeans/shorts are fine. It can get hot. Pebble is the other extreme. Folks exhibiting at Pebble usually wear a sport coat. Everyone else just tries to look decent, or arrives and leaves very early. It can be cool in the AM and evening, bring a light jacket/sweater/windbreak...

Voltage regulators

I frequently bore people by telling them my 330 has three transistors (they're all in that voltage regulator).

An average modern car has about a million times more. A high-end car may have ten million times more. Of course, they're somewhat smaller!

Washers

On Mike Dunn's advice, I used a very thin layer of Threebond 1104 on each side of my red fiber washers. It's a semi-drying fuelproof liquid gasket, which is used to seal motorcycle crankcases. You can buy it at any motorcycle shop. It worked great on my car with no leaks through several bouts of car...

NY?

As long as you're OK with eating at 6pm, I mean. If you want to be able to drive your Ferrari year-round, it's a tradeoff you'll need to make.

Caswell

Hi John, Long time no see! Caswell Plating makes lots of different plating potions of various kinds, I was referring to their "zinc blackener": http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/zinc_black.htm Their stuff is generally well regarded, but of course not the same as the nasty hot chemicals and process ...

I also meant to mention that the black-converted zinc plating stands up much better than black oxide on plain steel.

Black bolts

You can also get a chemical from Caswell to convert ordinary zinc plating to black zinc, which looks good and retains the rust-preventitive zinc underneath. I used it mostly for making lockwashers look right.

Many people prefer a 3-ear knockoff socket from seaport foundry, and a 3/4 inch torque wrench.

Just 1 miss with that lead hammer will put a $500 dent in your Borrani!
