In reply to Stephanm: What I really meant was, that early 911s have gotten expensive - in relative terms. In general, they have about doubled in the last five years, with S's commanding considerably more. I've owned several 911s (as well as various other 9 series and 356s). They are incredibly fun t...

Why its not like the late 80s: I had this very conversation with a very well known dealer/collector just last week. We were discussing the quick rise in values on certain cars (not the Barrett Jackson stuff) and how the market is different than 89. The Ferrari market, in particular, was driven mostl...

I'll be there - this will be my 30th year attending the events in Monterey (only missed the first few historic races). Boy have things changed! Hopefully, I'll be driving the 330, but a new engine problem has stumped both Mike McClure and me! I think its time to think about returning to the Porsche ...

the yellow color you see is the factory primer. Chassis should be black.

More restorations!

I was delighted to see the new posts and photographs of two restoration projects. It just so happens I FINALLY completely updated my site with new photos, projects, etc. The 330 is getting close . . . I think . . .
If anyone is interested:

I was warned several times about rigging up a puller so I bought the correct one last summer (not cheap either), and used it once on each front hub. It was totally effortless. I'd be happy to lend it to whoever needs it - just shoot me an email.

I fell asleep twice watching the auction last night. First - Barrett Jackson is NOT a sports car crowd. A concours restored late Porsche 356B sold for $41K! That was LESS than the restoration costs - so you certainly got the car for free. Second - never use Barrett Jackson sales as a gauge for what ...

Mine do (did) that as well. Remove and CAREFULLY rebend the metal. I laid mine dead flat and gently pushed against the back. It is pot metal, but is fairly soft - which is why they bend in the first place.

Actually, that is a pretty rare little car. A 1/43 KIT of a 250 GTO sold on eBay last week for almost $900 (not an AMR). Andre RUF is considered one of the best in 43 scale cars - I have a few that I built about 20 years ago.

OK - as it turned out, if I had just been PATIENT and bled the line from the electric pump to the carbs and let the system completely prime itself all would have been fine. However, I ended up going through the entire system (several times) and rebuilt the mechanical pump. Somewhere in the past some...

If anyone is interested - this problem has finally been resolved. Lessons learned: Do not trust what some hack has done before you AND do not trust that factory diagrams are necessarily accurate. As suspected - the solution was, in fact, VERY simple, I just compunded the problem by thinking it exist...

After tackling this problem for another seven or eight hours, as well as having an actual mechanic help me trouble shoot yesterday, I am no closer to solving the lack of fuel problem. What I know for sure: There is PLENTY of gas in the tank. The pickup tube is clear and free of cracks. EVERY SINGLE ...

Thanks for that John. I figured that may be the case, but it is not an easy thing to do while crawling under the car. I've been struggling with it for the last hour or so, so I'll give that a try. I'm confident the mechanical pump has been rebuilt correctly.
