By over doing it I mean 4+ hrs. It also depends on the solution you use. Dental ultrasonics are great, mine is a Health Sonics but they are pretty costly around $1,600 new. eBay has a lot of ultrasonics but avoid the little jewelry ones they are very small. The medical / dental ones are good quality...

I have a three gallon ultrasonic cleaner I’ve been using for years. It works great for carburetors and other hard to clean items. If the part you are cleaning is rusted you can add CLR or a degreaser for dirty parts. Don’t over do it the ultrasonic action can eat holes through your part. You can als...

I have a few photos of an original to go by now. Can someone please tell me what the centerline dimension between the two vent tubes is so I can make an accurate duplicate?
Thanks, Dan

Another 365 GT 2+2 restoration

Folks, I have yet another question on the restoration of my dads 365 GT 2+2. Someone replaced the original crankcase breathers with this set up made from 3/4” copper fittings I presume to better vent the crankcase due to excessive blow-by at the rings. I want to fabricate new ones to match the origi...

Alternator rebuild???

I just rebuilt the alternators which turned out to be pretty painless. I was able to locate new bearings, brushes and diodes from a locale alternator shop so the parts are pretty universal, that was good news. I needed to replace one of the terminal blocks as one of mine was melted from a loose conn...

Thanks Rudy, The old hose and others I have seen in photos look to have a black oxide or similar coating and the brass sleeves may have been chrome plated then black oxide or similar coating? The elbows and nuts were silver I’m not sure if the original finish is worn away. The new hose is steel brai...

Oil line finish?

Hi everyone,
Can someone please tell me what the correct finish is for the oil line and fittings that goes from the oil pump to filters on a 1969 365 GT 2+2. I have a new hose and have prepped the old fittings; it looked as if the original was blued?
Thanks, Dan

gaskets

Dally, The gaskets listed on eBay are no good. I ordered a set and the head gaskets leaked like a sieve, the valve cover gaskets were very brittle. The supplier did give me a refund though. The Elring leaked also. Part Source sold me the Australian set that has the red silicon ring around the perime...

head gaskets

I received the third set of head gaskets, this time from Part Source. These have the red silicon bead around the perimeter as well as around each stud hole. I pressurized the water jacket to 40 PSI and had no leaks so I think I finally found a good set of gaskets. One of my books wants me to pressur...
