Luke, I sucumbed to the AAS last summer when I got a '78 308 GTS to complement my 330 GT. I had always lusted for a 'Magnum PI' car, but I also about thought having just another in the line of red 3x8s at a Ferrari event whereas the 330 always stands out. However, last summer, Shaughnessey was broke...

One more thing about painting the alloy wheels. Either don't strip/blast off the paint inside the rims or paint that area just like the outside. The castings are porous and will leak air from a tubeless tire unless they are painted on the inside. I had mine cleaned/unpainted for several years. 3 of ...

I just reviewed 5721 on my registry. I can't see any reference to the car being a rebody. I can tell you from personal inspection last summer that the engine does not have a serial number stamped on it. There is an internal motor number, but no SN. So either the block was a replacement (un-numbered)...

I don't know how the color and finish would compare to what I used on my car. I had the paint off of my wheels for several years before repainting them. So I had no way of comparing. I also can't find the source of the paint codes that I used. I seem to remember finding them in something like the FA...

Paint for Comodora Magnesium wheels
I just ran across a Ferrari technical bulletin from 1971 which specifies the correct paint to be used in painting these wheels.
The text of the bulletin is on:

Reading between the lines in my registry: Auction 2003/01/18 $34500 Rob Peacock Sold, but evidently the sale fell through because the car was in another auction a month later. FMLV28#02 For sale at $34500 (probably same as reserve/final price in previous auction. The date of 2003/01/25 says that thi...

Hey Tom, Yale said that the S/N was 6539. That number looks a lot more likely than 5439. Did you take a picture? 6539 is a fairly well known 330 GT, with mucho bucks spent on a restoration by Doug Pirrone (Berlinetta Motorcars/NY) back in the late 80s. You can also get a Heritage Certificate from the Ferrari Owner's Website http://www.owners.ferrari.com/ which lists the exterior and interior colors. Get registered and then find the Historic Documents section on how to get it.

One thing to keep in mind in a 2HL 330 GT is that there's supposed to be an overflow hose that goes from the cup surrounding the gas filler pipe to a hole in the forward part of the left wheel well. So your 'rust' hole might be just missing the overflow hose! BTW, I've seen one car with the hose mis...

When I made the two missig splash panels, I measured the original ones on my 330 GT and they were .050" aluminum. I ended up using .040" because the thinner gauge was much easier to work into the complex shapes of the panels. I've never measured the thickness of either the trunk lid or hood. When I ...
