Re: 3777GT SII or SIII ?
I didn't know, that prototypes where built so early in the runnig series, I thought, the prototypes where started about #3800-3900 Wihout a doubt 2713 was changed much later. S.3 was clearly developed together with a GTL. The nose really is slightly different, which has always convinced me of this ...

Re: Half Boano/ PF coupe
Yep, for a minute I looked at it with my jaw dropped thinking such a car simply does not exist!

Re: Horn button ferrari 1948-1952 ?
The early color photographers didn't want to waste their expensive film on interiors, it seems.
The wavy pattern is called Guilloché, very fashionable decoration in metal craft and jewelry in the early days of industrialization. Real magic, that's why it's on the wheel too.

Re: Ashes to Ashes
Heh, it's like with rear view mirrors and radio antennas: nothing's "right" as the back-up light was just an option in form of a wire in the bottom of the trunk. Late in 1961 they added a provision where a Marchal 530 will right fit into - straight out of a box. I'd presume cars were then delivered ...

Re: Ashes to Ashes
Kare, all well and good that 2217 did not come with a reverse lamp originally but somewhere along the way a hole was put in the car for the mounting and wiring of a reverse lamp so now the owner wants one to fill the holes. 2169 did not come with a reverse lamp and the transmission #5E had a boss w...

Re: Ashes to Ashes
I wonder if there will ever be a need for repros, Italian players must have collected hundreds and hundreds of these from junkyards. I'm tempted to think that the large ones (later) collected from big Alfas (all scrapped now, let a handful here and there) are actually more common. And forget about 3...

Re: Castle Nuts
When tightening a nut/bolt you aim to get a given clamping force. This is pretty difficult to measure when working, so we use something else that correlates: torque. There is no absolute correlation between torque and clamping force, friction (value of which is largely random, coming from surface ro...

Change the washer, or sand it down until you get it right (there really is no option).

I have often wondered if connecting that thing on the Marchal Stridors will actually enhance the damage when the little lady parking the Buick Electra floors the gas pedal at the TRUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This seems to be one wonderful car - and maybe the last one built with the extra chrome piece on nose!
Do you know when it was completed and first registered?

Re: Weber Carb Gears
I think there is a chance that the gear has standard (moduled) tooth profile, so the profile would be possible to be copied with a standard cutter "just like that". Tooth profiles are standardized so that any spur gear having the same module fit together - so number of profiled cutters is very limit...

Re: Weber Carb Gears
Yes, if you know of a dependable adhesive, I can bore the unit out and glue on an aluminum sleeve. This would solve one-half of my problem. The other half of my problem is that I have another gear where the radius (the teeth) are broken into three pieces. Can this be glued after a thorough cleansin...

Do you wish to repair the damaged one or remake a whole set? How about drilling and inserting a brass insert?John Vardanian wrote:Has anyone tried cutting a close enough pair of spur gear and making their own sector gears?
