Dashboard IV

Tom: As I watch your progress with your car, now the terrific work on the dash, I can not help but wonder if in in an earlier life you were aside the great Enzo at Modena, building the early cars! Michael Bayer, #9727, 1967 330GT

Yale: If you went via Washington DC, Grand Touring nearby in Maryland does good work, and Chuck Wray the owner would likely help an epic cross country participant in distresss. I would be happy to show you the city, and a picture in front of the White House or the Pentagon would be a great addition ...

Tom: To help the cooling, but still preserve the engine, I find that 25% antifreeze and 75% water does markedly help cooling, not that 209s would ever tend to run warm!

Guys: Two points: I always believed that a 75% water to 25% antifreeze improved the heat transfer rates of the coolant, increasing the heat exchange rates of the radiator, and the radiator cap for the later 330s is a lid only, with a free flow to and from the overflow tank where that tank cap (a tra...

Guys: Don't go there! Buddy's mantra for Ferraris is perrrrfection. I call it Buddizing, way beyong the ability of a mere mortal to go. One road trip with him and I spent several thousand dollars on my 330 just to recapture some self respect! Seriously, Buddy loves his car, if any of us were to come...

Rob: Sorry to hear about all your troubles in this search. While you were in Symbolic did you see the 365GTC/4 black/tan? It seems to have been there for some time, and while they list it as 13,000 miles, they are also auctioning it on E Bay with 90,000 miles. I would appreciate any impressions you ...

Rudy: They are a no brainer to instal, one each distributor, in the 330s everyone hides them in the area behing the front wheel well access panels. Short answer is they send tiny amounts of electricty and load over the points, fire electronically and create a constant spark voltage over a wide range...

Leonard: I have heard all the debates pro and con about lead in the fuel, with the original and soft valve seats in my 330, I prefer to add it as insurance, its WAY cheeper than any engine rebuild and adding some to each fill up, painless. I purchased the real thing: TEL from Vogel Products, Inc., 8...

Setting the points is sometimes only half the challenge. In a two distributor car, the advance curves have to match in each which means advance springs and weights adjusted to create equal curves over their range of operation. For this a distributor machine is crucial and after 35 years its not a sa...

Matt: Add my congratulations - and the conviction you will love this car more with every passing year! Do insure the power brake vacuum line is clamped tight on both ends (but not too so as to crack the plastic fitting on the brake boster). And give the engine and transmission lots of time to warm u...
