Rebuild Starter or Fit Modern One?

The starter failed on my 250 Lusso.
Should I have it rebuilt or fit one of the modern replacements?
I would love to hear the pros and cons.
Aloha,
Mark

I only put about 500-1000 miles a year on my car, so that is not really a concern for me.
I think the stacks show off the motor better so thats what I like about them.

Velocity Stacks

I am thinking of having some velocity stacks made for Weber 36 DCS carbs. I have an original set to copy. The set up and tooling to do this requires a minimum of 18 sets to be made. I would have to sell them for about $900/set to break even. How much interest is there in velocity stacks at this pric...

250 Clutch Cross Reference

I am looking for info on the cross reference for a clutch for my 250 Lusso. I recently saw a Sachs clutch for this application, but the vendor had removed the part number off the package. Here are the numbers that were on the parts: clutch plate: 1861 084 001 also 1841 085 160 370 or 310 pressure pl...

Chassie suspension refinishing

There are three important steps to refinishing the metal on your car. 1) Clean off any oil. grime and debris. Any loose rust, old paint, dirt. You can have the underside of the car steamed cleaned as a start to remove the majority of the oil and grime. And then get under there with a putty knife, sc...

Lusso for sale

Steve, The car at Family Classics sold. There is one for sale in FML that may still be available. It is a car that was sold by Symbolic Motors about 14 months ago and I have a lot of pictures of this car. Here is the ad: 250 GT/L, S/N 4513 GT (1963). Silver with black interior. Restored, very strong...

Tires

I have been very happy with Pirelli P4000 Super Touring. I put 205 70/ZR15 on my Lusso 18 months ago and they run well, look good and they are Italian. I think its nonsense to attribute suspension failure to modern tire compounds, more likely lack of maintenance or in the case of a 330, suspension m...

parts diagrams

Hi Don,
Eurospares has a great parts catalog online at:
http://www.eurospares.co.uk/index.asp
I have just gone through a complete front suspension rebuild and the diagrams for the 330 GT were closer to the Lusso than the 250GT.
Give me a call if you have any questions.

Hi Tom, It was nice to meet you at the Ocean Avenue Club in August. You may remember I had my teen age son with me who was making a lot of pizza dissappear. This all started with me having a set of carbs rebuilt by Pierce Manifold. They came back looking brand new. So my thoughts turned to my fuel p...
