Re: Valve Stem Protectors
Martin, here are a couple of pictures. One is Parker Hall's photo showing the measurements of an original valve protector and a piece of an original Pirelli innertube. However, you are going to learn that this is too short for today's innertube stems. The other photo is my wheel, showing a somewhat ...

Re: 2 alloy tubes under the oil filler plug?!
Thank you for this, Dyke. It makes sense that these should be pinned down at the ends. Thanks again for the pictures.

Re: 2 alloy tubes under the oil filler plug?!
Dyke, I was hoping others might oblige me. You don't need to get down and dirt for this. Don't worry about it. Thanks anyway.

Re: 2 alloy tubes under the oil filler plug?!
Thanks Dyke. My Type 168 has these. I have a questions... are the plastic tubes supposed to be anchored down by straps at the end? If yes, where do the straps attach? Mine are just dangling and I wondered if this was right. Thanks.

Re: 2 alloy tubes under the oil filler plug?!
Martin, I removed them because I preferred the original arrangement. If the engine is worn and has more blow-by, it's not a bad idea to divert the fumes out of the engine bay.

Re: 2 alloy tubes under the oil filler plug?!
Martin, someone has added a pair of later 250GT diverters to your original breathers. It just funnels the fumes to the ground as opposed to allowing them to waft under the bonnet. My PF coupe had the same setup, which I removed.

Re: Progress on Brakes
Hi Martin, I am trying to follow what you are saying re the 3mm vs. 6mm. Are you referring to how far the seal stands above the cup? It looks more like 3mm here. Maybe you can explain. I got that elusive seal from Karp's a few years ago. I cannot remember the name of the fellow I spoke with. Inciden...

Martin, look at the recent "330GT Console" thread. Pilkington has carcasses left from replica builds. They may have that window.

Re: Pedal box disassembly
Martin, there is no bimetallic contact here. The shaft goes thru three ball bearings and the cone itself is press fitted inside the pedal box. That is four sources of friction that you overcome in taking this thing apart. I think I modified a turnbuckle and placed it inside the box. There are specia...

Re: 250 Dimmer Switch rebuild
That's pretty brilliant, Tyler. You are right, the problem is not carbon but it's just contamination. This switch doesn't get much use so it collects dust, and then when you turn it you get dead spots. I gather that yours overcomes this problem by applying greater "wiping" pressure against the coil ...

Re: Pedal box disassembly
Martin, there is no place for a traditional puller. I seem to remember I fashioned an expander and placed it inside the box and then by turning it, I pushed out the cone from the box, which also pulled the shaft out. The diagram came from a pretty popular shop manual from the 1970's, it's titled Fer...

Re: Pedal box disassembly
Martin, I did this awhile back and I don't remember it to be particularly difficult. The main shaft is actually an integral part of the clutch pedal, which runs thru three ball bearings and the hollow brake pedal axle. The "cone" is press fitted inside the box. The first step is to remove the clutch...

Re: 250 Dimmer Switch rebuild
Please tell us what you did and how. These have a tendency to come unraveled in worst case and in best case they just get carboned up. Thanks.

Re: 250 GTE Parts Catalogue thread
Hi Andrew, hopefully this may be of help in sourcing the seals for the ZF box. Keep up the good work!
