Veglia Clock Repair

I did see this was referred to in an old thread but wondered who people were recommending this days?

We seem a bit short of people this side of the pond.

I know people speak well of Palo Alto Speedometer in CA but sending the clock around the world seems a little drastic.

GTE manual eBay Auction

My full colour reprinting of the GTE manual has now sold enough copies to cover the cost of the project. To celebrate, and for a bit lockdown fun, I have decided to offer a copy on eBay. The auction has a starting price of £50, so roughly $70. They sell to the general public for $350. So, this is a ...

Re: Brake Boosters and Servofreno Stickers

On the subject of brake boosters, my unit is a kind of bronze/gold colour.
Otherwise it is identical to the one in the manual.
Does anybody else have the same ?

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

I still don’t know the answer to that question, just how to stop it. I am more relaxed about it now, having eliminated all the major electrical components. That said, I will find out and report. My new priority will be chasing an electrical fault that causes the overdrive fuse to (often but not alwa...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Exciting news ! I have discovered an after market toggle switch cleverly hidden well away beneath the dash. When you switch it from its current position the annoying noise stops. The car still starts and runs. All that happens is that the noise stops, exactly as if I had unplugged the black wire. I ...

Re: GTE Manual. A New Full Colour Reprint

Thanks guys for your kind feedback.
I very pleased with how the manuals have come out, it just felt like one of those jobs that needed somebody to do it properly. So far they have been selling well, but please keep spreading the word !

Re: Removing knock off spinners.....

I am sure the car needs to on the ground. David Wheeler recommended a German ‘old timer’ tool for removing our wheels in a more kindly fashion. It reduces the risks implicit in swinging a lead mallet around the body work. I looked but couldn’t find the e.mail. It may have been featured in the newsle...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

On the pictures above the wire is seen disconnected from the fuse box. It runs seemingly un-broken from there, behind the box section pictured, and to the ignition. The noise measured by Db meter and stethoscope seems to come from behind that box. The wire when jiggled at the fusebox end moves at th...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Here is an update on the slightly boring (multi platform) story of an annoying noise seemingly emanating from behind the box section on bulkhead to which the bonnet catch is attached. Some of you may recall that the noise stops with the removal of a black wire running to the top LH fuse. That wire l...
