Re: FACET FUEL PUMP 476087

Tim: you are right, I have seen a few 330 GT's with twin filters, thanks for reminding me. However, I have always wondered if this was a factory installation or was is done by a later owner to try to do a better job of filtering the fuel.

Re: FACET FUEL PUMP 476087

Chris: On a 330 GT, the electric pump does NOT flow through the pressure regulator in the glass bowl filter. The electric pump passes fuel directly to the rear inlet in the carb fuel log. Yves: If you intend to use the electric pump for starting and occasional extra fuel during hot weather or during...

Re: Enlarging Valves

Bob: Make sure the larger valves will not hit the pistons. You may have to machine larger diameter valve pockets in the top of the pistons.

Re: Enlarging Valves

Bob: No reason not to do this. You are spending the money anyway, free horsepower. However, do not expect large gains, maybe 5-7 bhp.

Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors

Ed: The MM series of cars used (for the most part) the Marelli B7 coil. These did not use external resistors.

Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors

Ed: It is all "tootsie roll" coils up into the GTE's. If you have seen photos of Ellenas and PF Coupes with the "square" resistors, you are not looking at photos of original cars.

Re: Details wanted for early GTE coils with round resistors

Ed: Early 250 GTE's definitely used "tootsie roll" coils. Please refer to the August 1962 Road & Track Road Test. The photo is a little hard to view, but you can easily see the soldered connections on top of the coil for the "round resistors.

Re: 250 Oil and Water Temp Gauges

Graham: Very good possibility. Get a modern temp gun and shoot the oil and water senders when the car is hot and compare the gun readings with the gauges.

Re: Personal Thanks

I view Tom's site (and Ferrari Chat to a much lesser extent) as the last bastion of people who actually work on their own Ferrari's. That is what drew me here in the first place. Over the years, as the values have increased to highs not ever envisioned 50 years ago, when I first started, the owner p...

Re: 250 Gte Valve timing

Chris: Your cams have a 109 degree centerline. 27 BTDC, 180 as the piston goes down, and 65 as it starts back up. Total duration is 272 degrees, Divide by 2 to get 136, and subtract the 27 BTDC, gets you a centerline (max lift) at 109 degrees ATDC. Set the flywheel at 109 degrees ATDC and move your ...

Re: 250 Gte Valve timing

Tom: I apologize for being "picky", but the actual minimum amount by which you can change the cam timing is 2 degrees on the camshaft which translates to 4 degrees on the crank. For every 7 teeth you move the cam chain sprocket, the flywheel moves 148 degrees 10 minutes, and for every bolt hole you ...
