Revisiting Houdaille Shocks.

Since Ford used these shocks from Model A's through 1947/8, I thought a few comments might be in order. 1) They were designed to use Glycerin - the primary reason was that the viscosity change with temperature was favorable. Other fluids were not recommended, because the temperature/viscosity relati...

Re: dash lights?

How does one get "bright" dash lights. Even if I connect directly to the battery voltage, they are pretty dim. Higher wattage bulbs are not available, to my knowledge. I have done everything obvious, starting with by-passing the rheostat.

Re: water pump leakage

Hi John: I can't find a picture - nor can I find the discarded one I kept for a memento. Maybe someone on the board can provide one. And I don't know about other Models/Engines. Sorry about that Chief. (to quote Maxwell Smart) But if you take the pump apart you will not have to look for it. The spri...

Re: water pump leakage

Also take a really good look at the rubber bellows! After the replacement in mine was found to be NG we replaced the weak spring with the original spring, but then the rubber bellows developed a leak. A big leak! . I don't know if it was just bad QC, or a design flaw. By now, I know how to take the ...

Re: 330GT Wheels

My fairly original series 2 330 had 3801s on the ground when I acquired it in 1981, and an entirely different size as a spare. The specs for the car listed a couple of non-standard items from the factory, but no mention of the optional wire wheels. If I understand it right, the alloys were standard,...

Re: Wiper Motor barrel connectors

Does anyone have a source for the Lucas wiper motor barrel connectors to the wiring harness? Seems I lost all 4 :-( of the them. Thanks in advance.... I believe they are the same as Ford used 28 - 72. But I didn't check them when I had my wiper motor out. And they are a pita to connect up! Cheers W...

Re: Tom Yang Radcliffe Party '09 #1

Thanks Tom for another super event , and especially Richard and Patti, who took such great care of me after my front brakes seized and had to go the remaining 30 Miles on a flatbed. Don't think that is what is meant by the phrase "Trailer Queen"
OK - Yale have at it.

Trunk Gasket:

I inspected my trunk gasket, and I wonder if the problem is that the current gaskets are too firm. My old (I think original) gasket seems very soft, even after many years.

CU in Maryland - maybe make an on-site comaarison

Re: What's it cost?

Hi Guys: My wife is pretty tolerant - when I bring home another rifle (not a GUN, as you find out quickly in basic training) she gives me the "hairy eye" and says "Well, they are easier to store than a car" And Yale - I still claim you are RESTORING your car, not maintaining it. If you sold it your ...

Re: What's it cost?

Hi Yale: There ought to be a radiator thread - and not just for Ferrari's. I have (still am) having the same experience with my 330, my '47 Ford Convt, and my former '56 Ford Truck. All with persistent leaks/seeps - none disabling - at the seam between the core and the top tank. And several attempts...

Re: Ansa Exhaust - Red tips

Don't know about the ones they sell today - but mine were painted as you indicated when I got them from FAF about 1980 or so. But carbon does build up so you can't keep them that color if you drive.
