I can't believe that Letterman, who is quoted in the article, didn't alert the writer to Tom, the true pioneer here...but I love the last line: "Service costs are an issue."

Thanks, Rudy. I really wish there had been one out there for each of us...there may well be yet; I certainly wasn't planning on this one for me a few weeks ago before it showed up, so you never know. The owner also told me about the sway bar and radiator and I'll be sure to get them with the car, an...

Hello all, As always, I’m impressed with the knowledge and efficiency of this site. Good news, bad news: Good: 1. Heritage did not buy the car. 2. I did. I’m thrilled and view this car as I have always thought of my 330 2+2 – that is, I’m its steward/caretaker while I’m lucky enough to own it, and w...

The first document I have details some shipping information on three 330GTs that came over together on the same boat in mid-1966. It's pretty remarkable that through Tom's site and with Kerry's help, I've been able to locate all three owners already (one of these cars is mine), in just a few hours. ...

chinetti paperwork / seeking several owners

Hi everyone, I've been doing some research on the origins of my car and have come across copies of original shipment instructions and invoice numbers (but not the invoices), dated 1966, sent to Luigi Chinetti (Chinetti Motors, Greenwich, CT). The first document lists cars being prepared for Chinetti...

I haven't tried them but, coincidentally, have been meaning to post some information about them too. I recently read an Associated Press story about them and was intrigued. In the story, they interview a few users of the products of the 19-person company, who generally report positive results, thoug...

wrinkle paint on various parts

My next project is replacing the spark plug wires and plugs on my car – some of the insulation is a bit fried from being installed too close to the heat shields and it looks like time for this job. There are some great posts on this topic here, and my choices were guided by that advice (Packard 440 ...

Finally, 2 months later, I had the time to get back to the car (as anyone with 2 kids under 2 years of age knows, the formula is about one month per kid!). At any rate, Jimmyr was exactly right (thanks!) -- although I had made sure the carb needle was dropping as it is supposed to, I didn't actually...

The jet appeared to be clear, and dropped fine, and I did take the opportunity to clean the float bowls when I had the carbs apart. I didn't blow through the inlet, but since I'm running out of ideas, I'll do so when I have some time to disassemble it all again -- I want to replace one of the screen...

Thanks for the suggestions. Based on your ideas, I disassembled the fuel log/rail and even the top of the carbs to check for any blockage. Everything is perfectly clear and the flow of gas is strong to the carbs. On a sidenote that might be of interest to someone, my fuel rail has a small branch at ...

Fuel line decision and follow problem/question

A few weeks ago I posed a question about fuel lines, questioning whether others had any problems with the original yellow hoses and degradation – I’d heard from some credible vendors that the hoses degrade due to modern additives in gasoline. Given the relatively low miles I put on the car (approxim...

fuel lines

Hi everyone, I've always been bothered by the nonoriginal fuel line in my 330 2+2 and, now that it shows a very minor leak, I have a (more) legitimate excuse to replace it with the original yellow line. Aside from the astronomical prices for these lines, I've run into another problem. After talking ...

Hi everyone, I’m happy to report back on the 2 local 330GT 2+2s for sale here in Santa Barbara. In my assessment: #6343 is one to avoid. Cosmetically it is almost acceptable, which means that its paint is not bad (though not good), the interior is mostly clean, and there is no obvious damage (nor ca...
