Art - the guys at the chrome shop are perfectionists - they do "show quality" work. Their view is that there are some pits that should be filled. I'm inclined to just polish it out. Don't think I will ever be entering her in Concorso.

Well, you learn something new each day. I got a call from the chrome shop that is re-chroming all the seemingly hundreds of odd bits and pieces from the 330. "Are you aware that the bumpers are solid stainless steel?" I had no idea. Apparently, the mounts, though, are not stainless. These are rusty ...

Kerry: I am surprised the production number for RHD cars was that low - other than the U.K., Australia and Japan, where else do they drive on the "other" side of the road?

Also, would you know from your registry how many RHD Series I cars remain viable (i.e., not Shaunessied)?

Thanks for all the responses and input. The color is really growing on me and I think the consensus is favorable. I had intended to restore to the original colors - dark blue metallic with cream interior - but this lighter shade is really growing on me. I think I'll go with a cream or caramel interi...

Restoration Progress - Opinions Requested

It's been awhile, but I thought I'd post some pictures with an update on the restoration progress. This has been a long process, mostly because of my travel schedule and because I am torn between seeing it through and enjoying my 330 or selling and moving on to the next project. Here is a link to pi...

It's originally blue with a cream interior. The car has been resprayed at least twice since new, so it's a bit hard to know exactly what shade the original blue was. I think it might be metallic blue sera, but that's not really saying much.

Restoration Progress

Seeing the beautiful paintwork on Owen's 330 inspired me to post some updated photos of the restoration on my own 330. See http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g278/bgaldston/?start=all Having been warned about the can o' worms I was opening up, I feel somewhat relieved to have found only the crude rus...

It was me, Ed. Thanks very much for the info. At 315 Euros, that's about $404. With shipping & handling, I suspect the total would not be far off Re-Originals price of $480 and $460 for the front and rear, respectively. Once again, I am always impressed by the thoughtfulness of responses on this for...

Thanks for your prompt and thoughtful replies. I should have been a bit more specific. I need the gaskets for the front and rear windshields, which total almost $1k at re-originals. The paint shop says they cannot be saved. Tom - if you or anyone else in the community knows of a source for these, I ...

Help Needed

I decided to keep my right-hand-drive 330 after all and have begun the cosmetic restoration. I think the car ought to look as good as it drives, so it's off to the paint shop. Here are some pictures as it's being stripped out. http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g278/bgaldston/October_30_2006/?sc=1&ad...

1960 250 GTE "Project" S/N 2929

Came accross this website by chance: http://www.seattleferrari.com/ Tragic story about the brother who obviously put his heart into this project but was killed in a kayak accident. Not sure how I feel about the "sunroof," but I was too slow anyway. The website was up for only a few days (as far as I...

Photos From Concorso

In no particular order, just a biased selection of the many magnificent automobiles. Enjoy.

Kerry - my apologies, I did not get a photo of the other 330. It did not stick around long and I was a little preoccupied. Art - any idea of the ballpark for a vehicle in condition such as mine (mechanically excellent, cosmetically challenged) in one of the right-hand drive countries? It would help ...

Art - thanks for your message. I am in your camp for the time being. It's pretty stealthy now to drive around with the paint in such shabby shape. As you overtake people on the street, they look around knowing the growl is something special but they can't spot the Ferrari! The vintage Lambos were am...

No, but it was really nice. Mine is the blue "beater" at the end of the line!
