Re: Brakes! We don't need no stinkin brakes

Okay this thread has degenerated into a "is it acceptable to modernise an old car" thread. My opinion on this is if it makes the car driver like a newer car, then the answer has to be no. But if it just makes it more reliable like the alternator then I can understand it. We have to remember we are s...

Re: I found a GTE!

Wouldn't it be better for somebody to stick an engine in 3787 and save a good car from ending up being wasted.

Re: 3787GT

Should have bought a car already sacrificed for a crappy replica and used that engine. Any original car no matter how bad should now be saved, but a car that has already been converted in to a replica is fair game ... for anything.

Re: Progress on Brakes

Thus the piston inside this equaliser thing must be sticking ... surely easy fix, OR (if you must) just remove the piston.

BTW: Tom I've just read your last update and see that you have tracked it down to this equaliser.

Good luck with the fix.

Re: The Road Trip to Cavallino Begins!

Tom, I'm not familiar with this "equalizer" term. Could you please explain? If the caliper was rebuilt, seems very strange that it would suddenly seize considering you actually use your car sparingly. Anyway you will easily sort it :). Re: The Road Trip to Cavallino Begins!

For the hose to catch fire, there must have been fire somewhere else first. Those things are designed for enormous heat. No way boiling brake fluid should cause the rubber to burst into flames and the heat from a brake disc shouldn't either. Many people classic race their old car still with rubber h...

Re: My 330 GT Engine To Be Rebuilt

You cannot compare two different dyno figures, or even dyno figures on the same dyno on different days, due to weather changes, etc. It is entirely possible that Ferraris figures would be 30 hp different to what somebody elses dyno produced. But yes Ferrari would have run minus generator, etc. like ...

Hydrogen embrittlement occurs if a high tensile piece of steel (such as a bolt) is electro plated. Here is a link: http://corrosion-doctors.org/Forms-HIC/ ... lement.htm

John, My own experience indicates otherwise and most good shops insist on balancing them together. I go with what works for me. I think we have gone the full circle and using lash caps may actually be superior to the original Ferrari design. Re: carburator nuts

Peace it seems is impossible on this planet ... Beam me up Scotty.

One must also remember that he valve and the rocker follow each other. The only time there is actually a gap is when the valve is closed and for a very short period of time the rocker no longer pushes on the valve stem.
