Congrats on the decision to move Bryan, should be a good change of pace from DC. If you can please send pics of the Mondial on a Uhaul rented trailer in tow behind the family truckster heading cross country it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 250GTE geeks
Cornelis, Unfortunatly the only real way to make the old springs new again is to take the whole stack apart and start the heat treatment, quenching and arching process all over. That would also require having the original specs and that all the leafs were reusable. I have had new springs made with g...

Re: 250GTE geeks
John, Your friend certainly has the big stack of springs that is indicative of the early cars which came with just leaf springs. But you can also see in the picture that he has a Koni shock with the spring perch so possibly Thur shock was replaced at some point with the shock model for a later car. ...

Re: Cutting a Daytona column for electric power steering
Steve, There are other options that do no require cutting the column or forever changing the car. I have done a couple Daytonas where I removed the manual box and replaced it with a power steering box from a 365 GTC/4. Pretty much a straight bolt in, just have to bore out the mounting bracket and ma...

Tom K. If you have a glass of wine and a spare bed or couch up in the Quebec some night I would love to elaborate on Mark's St. Patricks Day run in with the Irish Car Bomb:-) let's just say he far outdid his pizza bites and beer induced Ricky Bobby appearance at the Ferrari Nationals in New Jersey. ...

Re: Rebuild costs
Agreed Tom, the liners are another what if area. Personally I feel they should be replaced but that's one of those opinion statements in the Ferrari engine community so i trued to stay away from that best i can. After 50+ years of service and many of the cars saw years of neglect or plain sitting ar...

Re: Rebuild costs
If Tom's customer is willing to share the bills on his 330 and since DONV has offered up his costs on his 365 motor that's some good basic info to start with. I just hope that every conversation with every motor job for shops across the country don't start with a "well i saw on TomYang.net that it s...

Re: Rebuild costs
Well said Tom, While the fixed parts cost remain similar for the 60's engines there are so many other what iffs involved I can't imagine anyone quoting the job in advance or thinking that because customer "A" paid "X" than somehow that's somehow what customer "B" will pay. I just have to add that do...

Re: Tom's most recent blog
John, On the three lobe distributors each set of points fires 3 cylinders so setting timing on 1/6 and 7/12 sets timing on all 4 sets of points. Like Tom touched on in his post when you are checking/setting cam timing you check it on at least 1/6 and 7/12 which allows you to not only double check yo...

Re: Tom's most recent blog
One thing I learned early on as a mechanic is never apply one diagnosis to another car even if the symptoms sound the same. Always start with a clean sheet of paper and eliminate the basics. A great ignition and proper timing is essential on a car with two seperate distributors, make sure the igniti...

Re: Daytona Carb problems
Hello Steve, I have been reading along, I think you are headed in the right direction with the long fuel line. I have replaced a couple of them and let me just say they are bit of a pain but a necessary evil to change out. Ferrari used a mild steel pipe to go from the rubber hose out of the fuel pum...

Yes Alex of Course a red 206 to you, yours was already painted so it didn't make my list. Now if we can just get that interior done we can finally start driving that poor thing.

Happy Holidays Toms and to the rest of the Yang crowd. Cheers to 2012 being a better year for us all both in business and with personal success & happiness. Hope that we can continue to build on the calendar of car events to enjoy throughout the year since last years events were some of the highligh...
