Re: Stamping a Label

Friends, A followup. Mr. Yang kindly provided a solution. He has worked with a jeweler who has a computer-controlled engraver that can cut any set of characters in any fonts in any engravable material such as an automobile data plate. It looks almost too good but a little greasy dirt from your finge...

Re: Fred Petroske

I bought several parts for my 308 from Fred. He was always happy to answer questions and was fair in his pricing and dealings with me. Then I saw 9129 on his website. He couldn't decide whether to sell it whole or part it out. The rest is history as 9129 is now mine, is driving and is 98% restored. ...

Re: Windshield Washer

Kerry, The wiper switch knob is between and below the tach and water temp gage. It's function as controller of wiper movement on 9129 has been verified. There is no right stalk on the steering column. The upholsterer (had the interior, ceiling-to-floor, stripped to bare metal) does not recall eviden...

Windshield Washer

Jemmun, Would anyone know where my windshield washer switch and pump are located? I have the squirter nozzles mounted on the cowl and a salvage reservoir bag mounted on the battery holddown, but nothing else. There is a white, squarish pump that makes noise when connected to 12VDC, but we're not sur...

Re: Drivetrain Whine

Dyke, Thanks. Chris had to take the tranny apart again to file some relief in the teeth on the O.D. of the sliders to get it to shift into 3rd and 4th. After that no problem. Also, Chris will get his chance on the differential, probably sooner rather than later. I just hope I'm not doing any damage ...

Re: Drivetrain Whine

Mike, Thanks for the comments. The transmission was also restored, with new sliders, synchros and bearings. It wouldn’t shift into 3rd and 4th because the 3-4 slider had some interference with its mating part. This issue has since been corrected. It’s still a bit notchy but is wearing-in well and se...

Re: Drivetrain Whine

Timo. Thanks for the reply. The noise has been there since the beginning and at the same level. I don't know about the whine's earlier presence since I have only driven it post-restoration. My shop (Vintage Connection) will get their opportunity to examine the situation. I wanted a second opinion to...

Drivetrain Whine

Guys: 9129 is running well and has about 700 miles on the restoration. The only problem is a gear whine which I think is coming from the differential. It starts about 30 mph and goes away about 60 and in that speed range is the loudest noise in the car. It is directly related to vehicle speed. It go...

Re: 250GTE Rear Springs and Shocks

Mike, I never drove my car before the restoration process (broken valve, disassembly and all). From the beginning of the car's NEW status, it has been a bit jumpy at speed, which seems to me to be oversteer. A few days ago, I tried the old racer's trick of asymmetrically setting the tire pressure: 3...

Re: Listing

Geo: See the other thread on this subject, "250 GTE Rear Springs and Shocks". I posted a picture of my broken rear spring leaves there. Your problem could also be some broken rear leaves on that left side. Also, 9129 (now-repaired) seems to list to port also, but the tilt is so slight as to make one...

Re: 250GTE Rear Springs and Shocks

Zanny, Here is a picture of my broken spring leaves. It seems it was only THREE out of the ten, and all on one side. The breaks seem at random locations (not at the mounting points). Given the rust on these leaves, the culprit might have been corrosion. 9129 was located in the Boston area for many y...

Re: Rotors

Hook, Dennis McCann sold Allferrariparts to Tom Vail a little while ago, so it’s now “Tom Vail’s All Ferrari Parts”. I have dealt with Tom and he couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. He has the disks at $995. T Rutlands has them for about $150 more. My shop, Vintage Connection in OKC, had a set made f...

Zanny,

I e-mailed a request for more information to my shop. I'll get back to the thread when I have an answer.

Re: 250GTE Rear Springs and Shocks

Zanny,

And now the bad news that may await. Out of the ten leaves in the two rear springs of 9129, FIVE were broken. My shop, somehow, got replacements from Tom S. I am dreading those axle-busting chuck holes.

BTW 9129 is done, running and driving. (Yippee) Film at 11
