Re: Tool Bag Handle
m, Thanks for the response. My problem is that I have TWO jack bags which are identical in every way except that one handle has a ½” x 5-1/4” STRAIGHT strap inside it and the other has a ½” x 6-3/4” BENT strap in it. Both look original. Could this be one of those issues at the Ferrari factory where ...

Tool Bag Handle
Guys, I am currently restoring my tool bags for 9129. The brown vinyl is in near-perfect shape, but the leather needs replacement. I use the two-bag arrangement, the jack, hub puller and lead hammer go in the smaller bag and all the rest of the tools in the main bag. I also have a spare jack bag. My...

Re: It's Alive!!!!
Tim, Have you replaced the brake fluid and bled the system recently? Brake fluid is quite hygroscopic. Contaminants (mostly water) in the fluid can cause the brake system to self-activate just as you described. The brakes will then reset after they cool. I had this experience in my 83 VW Rabbit that...

Thanks, guys. Smooth and body color it is. I'll pass that on to my paint shop.

Rocker Panel Painting
Gemmun:
Did Ferrari apply the bumpy coating (undercoating?) under the paint of the rocker panels of my 67 330 2+2 when they built it? Or was this done when it was repainted? In other words, is the bumpy finish correct? My painter needs to know. He's getting close

Kare,
If stainless steel is undesirable for this application, then, what material would you suggest? Why?

Re: Water Manifold
Kare, That’s interesting. Would the stainless “push” the corrosion site more to the aluminum block and heads since aluminum is higher on the activity scale than iron, even though the iron is passivated by the chromium in the stainless alloy? Did John’s original bell reducer corrode as an unintention...

Re: Water Manifold
John, I would have the bell reducer made by a machine shop out of 300-series stainless steel. It would not be a difficult job for a competent shop. The tubes would also be 300-series stainless bent by a custom exhaust shop or competent plumber; if they couldn’t do an honest bead on the end, a small ...

More on Ferrari Colors
Greetings, The restorer of 9129, Vintage Connection, is getting near the painting point. (There was a LOT of damage and mis-repairs to be corrected on the car.) I asked how to determine the original factory color in this website. Kerry kindly contacted Marcel Massini who looked through his records a...

Dbeaul,
In the attached photos, the drain holes are between the second and third cylinders and between the fourth and fifth cylinders. In the shot of the topside of the head, the drain holes are along the far side of the head. In the other two pictures, the holes are on the camera side.

Re: Oil circulation in 250 and 330
dbeaul1444, There are two 10-12mm holes along the outside edge of each head, just inside the cam-rocker-valve-spring space. Each of these four holes aligns with holes in the block that drain back to the sump. All of these holes are parallel to the cylinder bores. BTW, note that the centerline of at ...

Re: Paint
Kerry, Thanks for the information. I registered on the Ferrari owners’ site a few years ago. That’s how I managed to get the build sheet for my car. I visited the site after your response, above, but all I can access is the usual factory fluff and nothing related to 9129. Can you offer some detailed...

Paint
Fellow Ferrari Fans, Is the original color of a 330 indicated anywhere on the car’s build sheet? On my build sheet, the entered information is legible, but the block titles often are not. However, there is nothing entered that is clearly a color indication. The car, not counting the fact that all th...

Re: Closer Inspection of the Brake Equalizer
Tom, Unless you can get a new part, I think making a new one would be your best bet. Plating, grinding and polishing would work, but would likely cost as much. Then, there’s the ever present specter of peeling. Since it is not a highly stressed part, stainless would work and have the side benefit of...

Re: The Road Trip to Cavallino Begins!
Tom: I'm not sure this is similar, but, here goes. I had an 83 Rabbit. One day (the car was 6-8 years old) I was driving along and the right front caliper locked up, complete with a hot disk and smoke. I stopped, waited for a short time, then heard a clunk. The caliper released and I went on my way....
