GTE Manual. A New Full Colour Reprint

I have long thought that the quality of the re-printed GTE manuals in circulation is very poor, and that owners of the Ferrari 250 models deserve better. Many are based on the flawed PDF available on the GTE website. Whilst this is fine for 'a working copy' our cars deserve better. As we all know, p...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Hi All, Voltmeter across the battery suggests nothing wrong with the VR. All other electrical components tested and functioning normally. Despite the mystery wire being plugged into the top left fuse, I now believe the problem lies with the blower motor and not the ignition system, so the next step ...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Hi Tom, I bought a stethoscope by recommendation and have made progress with the location if not the cause of the electrical noise. The whine is loudest in two places, behind the metal box structure screwed onto the bulkhead (Which has the hood latch mounted on it, and when I place the stethoscope o...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Ok , this is interesting. I decided to check functionality with the mystery wire disconnected. The objectionable noise ceases, None of the electrics operated from the central console cease to be operational. The starter motor woks and the engine turns over. However the battery needs a charge. The ca...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Hi Chris, that will be my next task. I am sorry for the slow progress but I have very little knowledge of auto electrics. I have turned the blower motor on and off, it sounds absolutely normal. Further when I remove the fuse that would disable the blower motor the whine continues. I will repeat the ...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Gentlemen, thank you for your assistance. John the noise is hard to describe but is not like a bearing in a fan. The noise occurs when the fans are off and their respective fuses removed. The noise persists with the key in position 2 but the engine not running. The sound is more electrical than mech...

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Hi John, I did as you suggested the noise is loudest (99 dB) in the engine bay by the coils. Marginally louder by the drivers side coil (LHD car). Taking the leads out of the coils makes no difference. Can you think of a likely suspect in that area?
Thanks, Graham

Re: GTE Electrical Whine

Update on update. More oh a screech than a whine now, perplexing ! Note all interior fans are off, and this is (almost) definitely coming from the engine bay. As I said above if I take out the top fuse in the LH bank (coils/starters) it stops. I also tried disconnecting each coil, no difference. May...

GTE Electrical Whine

My GTE has started making a strange electrical whine audible in the cabin. It happens when the key is turned to the on position before I press it in to start the car. The car starts as normal. The noise continues. It seems to come from behind the dash, but it is hard to be sure. I will have a proper...

Brake Fluid Reservoir Bottle (with FIAT cap)

I am clearing out some parts from my garage. I have a brake fluid reservoir bottle (at least that's what I call it) with the correct blue FIAT cap. Good for the 250 series, and some earlier Ferraris I believe. If anybody is interested in one of these please drop me a P.M. or email me on ge266@exter....
