mirrors

You can also have your old mirror re-silvered- I had one done for an Alfa several years ago for $35. Google "mirror re-silvering" and take your pick.

I'd borescope #3 and see what happened. If it dropped a valve head or seat, a holed piston is just the beginning. It may very well need a cylinder head as well.

Either spend the money and fix it right, or sell it to someone who will.

those caliper pots are also used on period Jaguars, among others. Check some of the Brit parts suppliers, as I've seen a great variation in prices.

it says in the copy that it is a "badge bar", which is used for the display of various auto club badges and so on. It is (or was) a popular custom not seen too often this side of the pond.

I've seen this problem twice over a 25 year period on the same Lusso I work on from time to time, and both times it was the booster.

They're actually called BOWDEN cables, probably why you had no success in finding them in an online search.

330 question/white smoke

I'll almost guarantee your problem is a leaky brake cylinder. High manifold vacuum in both instances you describe will suck fluid from the booster into the intake, causing the dense white smoke. Usually a blown head gasket will cause similar smoke from a cold start until it warms up, but you would a...

Floor paint

Take a look at www.airtechcoatings.com Among other things, they sell a line of polyurethane floor coatings that are absolutely bulletproof. A friend had his new hangar done in New Mexico, and is delighted with the results.

The seal in the brake master cylinder fails, which allows the booster can to fill with brake fluid. The vacuum booster is powered by intake vacuum, which sucks the fluid into the intake. I've never seen any harm come to the engine as a result. I've seen this condition on one of my Healey 3000s as we...

custom Ferrari tool

I've seen several posts here on different subjects using a wide variety of substances for lubricating "O" rings and various other rubber parts. I have found that Dow Corning #4 (silicone grease) is hard to beat for any kind of "O' ring use. Be sure not to get it on anything that you might wish to pa...
