Re: Is this the best & most useful Ferrrai ever?

Karl Ludvigsen called it "The Magnificent GT" in his contemporary road test of the 365 GT 2+2 in Sports Car Graphic when the model was new. It is still true.

Re: Oil Flush ??

The advice to pull and manually clean the lower pan after water/oil contamination is really valid. When I had the issue due to a leak in one of the blind plugs in the cylinder head, the pan was completely full of the gooey froth. There is no way it will drain out properly from the pan with all those...

Re: Driving the vintage ones

Hi, Tom, And, as David E. Davis has said many times, what makes you truly fast is to be able to go really fast in a low powered car. Stirling Moss used to challenge himself to average 60 mph on UK "B" roads, without going over 70 mph, and that would have been in late 1950s sedans and sports cars. I ...

Re: Cavallino 2010

My wife did a presentation in an Italian class at the University of Michigan Through the 1960s, Ferrari built more 2+2's than road-going two seaters. They really did support the company and the racing program.

Driving the vintage ones

(From a similar thread on F-Chat) Early this month, we took our Queen Mother for a three day 1,237 mile drive from Ann Arbor to the hills between Columbus and Marietta, Ohio. We used much of the route I set up for some GM engineers 14 years ago for a competitive ride and drive. About 60% of the tota...

Re: FCA Nationals in Wisconson

If anyone is leaving the FCA early enough to make Meadowbrook, there may be some folks meeting near the Dino Competizione around 12:30 on Sunday.

Re: FCA Nationals in Wisconson

Sorry I cannot join the festivities at FCA2009. We made plans to do a long drive in southern Ohio this year. I hope everyone has a great time.

Congratulations, Bryan. Sprint Speciales are among the most beautiful cars ever made, and quite special among Alfas.

Re: Muffler Heat Shields

On a related note, the shields were simply missing on my car when I bought it. The pictures in the parts books were pretty clear showing the bends and the slightly extruded longitudinal grooves to give them strength. I made light cardboard patterns showing the shapes and locations of the grooves and...

Re: Coolant in oil?

I had a massive amount of coolant suddenly appear in the oil last fall after a very short run when I knew the oil was clean before the start of the run. The usual suspects of dried gaskets, water pump seal, etc. were all OK. We pressurized each cylinder in turn with air pressure and found nothing. W...

Re: Oil Change

And the first time I changed my own oil, I discovered an even more important tech tip than the safety wire procedure that you need to know. Your driveway will stay a LOT cleaner and the oil change will cost less overall if you re-install the drain plug BEFORE you start adding the new oil. (Fortunate...

Re: PAINT 2

The color can be tracked down through Ferrari, and paint matching is a fine art these days. Admiral Phillips matched the blue on the Mondial by using the painted areas under the switch bezels on the dash - areas that were never exposed to the sun or any cleaners. You should have some similar "virgin...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

And a Happy one to everybody. Do you know why turkey became the special food for Thanksgiving? The Indians came to the Pilgrims on the Monday and invited them to their yearly harvest festival on the following Sunday. They said this is a very special festival for us to celebrate a fine year of good h...
