Fest, Surely the answer to the 'one piece chain' issue is to remove one chain pulley. This will enable you to thread the chain on all the other pulleys and then put the 'removed' pulley back on with the chain installed on it. Thus find a pulley that if removed will only have to move a little out in ...

fest,

It looks to me from your photos that you probably need to replace the rubber chain guides too (?)

You probably will need to re-time the cams as well, but I am sure you have that all under control.

Enjoy.

Congratulations Tom, and to your wife. Well done for having a beautiful little girl, they are so special to us Dads :) In no time at all she will want to be Dads little helper in the workshop ... which is fun, er, if not exactly helpful :):) Watch out for the car radio/tape decks ... mine no longer ...

Rust and paint

Tom, You should squirt some paint into your rocker panel/chassis sections before you put your carpet in. Especially because you have just welded in your safety belt brackets ... and this welding process will have burnt off any paint on the inside of the chassis rail (if there ever was any paint :))....

There are so many details wrong with this car ... no wonder it is not selling, and again defends my position about how I hate people doing this crap to original Ferraris. That car looks about as close to a real GTO as a Datsun replica. It does not even have the correct exhaust details ... is missing...

The good thing about this car is that it is complete ... but maybe not worth $35,000. Looking at the pictures it does not look any where near as hard a restoration as my Alfa. Infact a complete strip (which you have to do for any decent restoration) and a very good clean and a full paint and then yo...

Welding ...

Tom, Be careful welding galvanised metal ... the fumes that come off during the welding process are dangerous (cancerous or something ... ) MIGs are great tools, and very, very good for panel beating as you can tack the panel and sort of build it as you go. For panel work most just tack and then kee...

I really have no idea about the Daytona, but my Alfa Romeo GTV (which is Italian and may have the same thinking ??? ... or maybe not) steering wheel was attached by a keyed taper to the steering column. Thus you had to undo a large nut on the end of the steering column and then there were two thread...

Fathers drill disaster ...

Heh Tom, That story about your father's drill is too funny. Does he know now? I think all of us tinker'ers have a similar story. I took apart a mechanical clock at around the same age, right down to uncoiling the spring ... oops!@!. Naturally there was no way I was going to be able to get that sucke...

Hmmmm ...

... Tom,

All that work finding a 330 America badge and now they are popping out of the wood work :), typical I guess.

Guess you do not need a spare.

Alloy panels ...

... Hmmm, I would not do this myself as alloy panels drum. You can solve the rattling but not the drumming. This is why alloy panels usually have diagonal creases in them to give them some sort of rigidity. Your call but I would stick to modern wood based products with the plastic on the back (as th...

Valve timing ...

Degree wheel definitely is attached to the crankshaft ... no matter how many cams your have or valve train complication. Valve open duration is also measured from the cranshaft as it is the degree of crank rotation that the valve stays open. I know with Ducati motorbikes, that you measure the valve ...

Brackets

Tom, Yes you would be right, universitility would be their reason, but it don't half look ugly ... There are a few really great English cars ... but this penny pinching attitude is what killed their industry in the end, i.e. making something to fit everthing and making an inferior product to save . ...

Alpine driveshaft

Tom, Wouldn't the driveshaft have to be shortened for the overdrive? On a different subject, one thing I find amusing about english cars is the necessity for BRACKETS ... they are everywhere. The Italians cast just about everything and usually include these things in there castings ... but the Engli...
