O.K. O.K! I'm going to work on installing better looking seatbelts! Buddy gave me a source that I'm going to look into next week. I guess these will be a mock-up.

I got the same run around when I tried to get a McMaster catalog, but found one at work that someone was throwing out. (Yes, there's Tom picking through the trash again!) Their website is pretty good, but flipping through the book is almost as fun as browsing through a Hemmings!

Hi Jim, You need to have servr space to attach a picture to your post, or you can attach a link to your pictures like Joel did. Your ISP usually provides a certain amount of disk space so you can create a website, and this is where you upload your pictures. Once there, you direct a link in your mess...

Hi Andy,

The belts are my main concern. The plastic boxes could be painted, but would make the belts look worse if they remained black.

Trust me, if I could get matching seatbelts, I would, but the retractors only come in BLACK! :-(

Thanks Guys! I think the one thing I've learned is "being nice," goes a long way. I don't consider myself "pushy," and it is probably what these mechanics hate. I'll try to get a copy of the article posted for those who missed it. I'm sure glad I didn't come off as an idiot! ( I say this because I w...

Check out the New York Times!!

Hi All,

The "Escapes" Section (3/5) has an article on Classic Car Mechanics, and I got a mention in the article! There's also a picture of Francois.

Have you given Karp's brake service a call?

I had them rebuild a booster for my Alpine, and look like the have parts for your booster. They did a great job.

Be aware that Lyle Tanner (Ferrari Parts Exchange) may be going through some "financial restructuring," and until we can be sure that it is safe to get orders filled, you may consider another source. If someone from Ferrari Parts Exchange would like to answer to the rumors, I welcome it!

Hi Art,

I think Bluecat is talking about the stuff on the outside of the wire, and you're talking about the stuff on the end of the sparkplug.

Rich running leaves sooty deposits, and blowby shows up in black oily deposits. I think white is lean, but I have to look up my chiltons pictures!

Remmeber that if you end up with a drip or run, it can be sanded smooth with 1000 grit sandpaper when it dries, and buffed out. If there are any cracks in the wood, now is the time to fix them before the varnish. I watered down carpenter's glue and forced it into the cracks before firmly clamping th...

All the complaints I get on this forum are from AOL users. The software designers that wrote this program are aware of the problem, but feel that there would be a security risk from hackers if changes were made to allow AOL users to access forums like this one. I know there are a lot of AOL users, b...

Hi Matt, DOT 5 is Silicone brake fluid, and is very different from DOT 3 or 4. DOT 5 is safer for paint, and supposedly won't absorb water, but can be harder to bleed the air out of a system, and is slightly compressible (perhaps because small bubbles stay in suspension). Installing DOT 5 in a syste...

Hi Steve, I think you're making the right decision in driving the car for the summer and fall before embarking on any major work. You'll enjoy the car on the road, and get to know her before tearing into the body and interior. What color blue was the interior? Was it a light blue like http://www.tom...
