Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
Decided against fitting the new carbs back on at this time as anyway the car is undriveable in the condition it is in now. Instead, have sent the car off for a complete body and cosmetic restoration today. This should take at least six months and a lot of input from all of you on rubber parts gasket...

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
Hi Tom
Have recd the carbs from Mike Pierce.
In case we screwed up last time-i do not want to make the same mistake twice.
Therefore:
While fitting the carbs back onto the engine what should i torque them to?
Best

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
Hi
The carbs were sent to mike pierce who said that they were twisted, and probably not fixable. Have managed to acquire a set that he had restored for another customer which are now on the way to India.
Will get these, put them on and report back.
Fingers crossed!

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
The valves have been changed. The heads were refitted on the car and so were the carbs. Was not able to set the carbs correctly One carb is working ok but the other two are not. By switching the carbs around the problem was getting transferred to the other cylinders. The carbs have been therefore ta...

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
Thank you for all the input.
The heads are off-two valves were not sealing properly so have ordered a new set (all 12 cylinders)of OE valves from T Rutlands.
Will recv them around 25 April.
Then lets see............

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
Thank you. Have downloaded the page. I should add that my mechanic informs me that he thinks that the timing is not the issue-according to him the engine is leaking compression through carb number one -you can actually see an expulsion of vapour forced upwards out of the carb (with the aircleaner bo...

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
Went and saw the Ferrari today. The car fires up nicely and the engine sounds really good. Just like a Ferrari should! However, as reported earlier, it is misfiring especially while increasing the rpm. My understanding of timing is with a degree wheel (like in the msd how to set timing video) Pretty...

Could you guide me on setting the timing on the engine, especially using a "timing light"?

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration
I have ordered a starter from British Starters. While i wait for this to arrive, the present starter was repaired and refitted on the car. I went to see the car today. The engine fires nicely, with a nice growly sound, but you can hear the miss at idle, which gets a little worse when revving up the ...
