Re: 330 America (#5061) 99% Finished

Here's the dilemma -- if I take a rock chip on the car it probably costs me $10,000 in lost value. Then there's the dirt/road grime that once it gets into seams between chrome and paint, etc. requires an all-day cleaning. This is why I just bought the OSCA Zagato -- its a strong #3 car that is a pai...

Decoding my Ferrari Tool Set

Having seen a few threads regarding 250 toolkits, it made me go out to my garage and open up the tool kit that came with my 330 America to see what I had, what was missing, and whether any of the items looked original. Can anyone tell me the original manufacturer of the wrenches and screw drivers? M...

Re: Bonhams auction in Gstaad

Tom - actually, check your math again. 150,800 CHF x .85 = $128,821. So the approximate $130K price in US Dollars was INCLUSIVE of Buyer's Premium.

Re: Trim rings for Ferrari 330 America headlights

Greetings Austria! Its been 5 years since I was there last, but a lot of fun :)

Gunther Hansele has the headlamp buckets too (NOS parts at that!) -- so you should be able to obtain everything from him. Tell him I recommended you.

Re: Trim rings for Ferrari 330 America headlights

Yale - OK, so I used a little metaphor :) However, a very close resemblance at 3% the price of a Competizioni SWB and I can park it at a Starbucks without having to watch it every 5 seconds. The Mangusta has a throaty sound, reasonably nice torque, etc. but feels very wide inside despite the car bei...

Re: Bonhams auction in Gstaad

That seems about right ($130,000 USD) for an early production, presentable GTE in today's troubled economy. A couple of nicely restored GTE's have sold for $160,000 to $200,000 in 2008. Bruce Marquand (Restoration Manager - Symbolic Motorcars) says that a good restoration in their shop costs $200,00...

Re: Trim rings for Ferrari 330 America headlights

Yale - yes, I own the red one (#006) in the picture. I just bought it in November and had it shipped from Bergamo, Italy to the USA. Its getting new tires and a few minor items sorted on it prior to Texas Inspection and licensing (I'm obtaining a pair of 1960 Texas "black plates" for it). You may re...

THANKS TOM: 330 America Badge Finally Used

Tom - I remember you saying you couldn't believe that I was willing to pay your asking price for that original 330 America badge you found in NY in the old parts garage -- but hey, it looks pretty good back where it belongs :)

330 America (#5061) 99% Finished

For the few that remember my odyssey with #5061, the car leaves Symbolic Motorcars on Feb 17 en route back to Lamborghini Dallas for the engine/gearbox to be re-installed and that car is (after 4.5 years of restoration) -- better than new. Symbolic emailed me this morning indicating they can't locat...

Re: Trim rings for Ferrari 330 America headlights

Guys - Gunther Hansele (www.talbotco.com) has a full assortment of correct buckets, Marchal lamps, bulbs, and trim rings for the 330 America. I had to perform the same research in 2008 (guys on this website took photo's of theirs and Gunther matched them).

He's in southern California.

Re: WANTED: 250 GT Lusso (NO MORE)

As Lusso's have broken through $500,000 and a few are fetching $600,000 they are officially long out of reach for me. So I bought what I call a "baby 250GT SWB" -- an OSCA 1600 GT Zagato. At 1700 pounds (thanks to the Zagato aluminum "double bubble" coachwork) and the 145hp engine -- compliments of ...

Help Needed w/Marchal Parts

Guys - good to see that so much great information got shared from my initial post on this subject. However, I have a couple issues for which I'd be grateful: (1) Marchal Foglamps - Tom Wilson says his lights are marked 670 and 690, but others I've talked to with Series III cars say their foglamps ar...

250 GTE Series III headlamp buckets

Tom W - man, you are a life saver.......I've copied your narrative and a couple of the pictures into an email that I've sent to Bruce Marquand at Symbolic Motorcars (where my car currently resides). I don't have the correct headlight buckets -- does anyone know where I can get them? Remember, I had ...
