Don't thank me, thank Mike Meehan for coming up with a great solution. He should be the one to tell you about it, but I think I remember him telling me that when he asked around to see if anyone had done this before, but he couldn't get any advice or confirmation that this would work. I can certain...

In order to make a lift like this work, I'd have to go to a new eight-foot garage door, which would work fine since my garage has a 9'-6" ceiling. However, this would require structurally reframing the door opening to go from the seven foot door to an eight-foot one. Mike Meehan did something diffe...

Art, You know I've decided to go with a 308 this time, but that certainly doesn't rule out adding a V12 project car in the future. I couldn't handle a rebuild job like the current 400 offering on ebay, but a solid, up and running 365GT4 2+2 or 400 series appeals strongly, esp. since prices are still...

This GTE has been on Mike Sheehan's page forever at $125K/best offer. It looks like a really nice car, but it'll never sell on Ebay the way it's listed. You've got to set a reserve, start the bidding way low, and let the market play it out. Checkout this just-completed 330 auction...that's the way i...

For all the wonderful engineering the Mexico has it lacks, to my eye, a prime ingredient: timeless coachwork. That probably has effected it's value and desirability more than most things. That's one thing that cannot be fixed. Jim Agree. In that era, Ferrari always had it down to the smallest detai...

abrent...you mentioned Boxers. A little off topic, but recently I had a chance at a primo 512BB(carbureted) for a very reasonable price. I considered it as an investment, to help me make a significant move up the vintage 12 ladder in a year or so. But it was also an investment that would be very eas...

I forgot to add to my previous reply to rudy, art, and af: A lesson for everyone here: DO NOT turn in small no-liability claims, such as backing your SUV into garage door jambs, trashcans, and tel phones. Pay for the repairs out of pocket. I learned the hard way when Hagerty and several other big cl...

My question to those you use Hagerty is what type of liability coverage do you carry? Hagerty's on line quotes only indicate 15/30 which seems quite low. I carry 100/300/50 on the liabilty side for all my cars. This is California after all.... Rudy van Daalen Wetters 1963 GTE s/n 4001 1966 330 GT s...

Rudy, Your State Farm arrangement is similar to what I will be doing on my next vintage Ferrari. I'll be insuring it as a regular driver with Stated Value, and they've asked me to provide extensive-as-possible market valuation evidence as well as a professional appraisal, requests I consider very pr...

Rudy, Do you get Agreed Value coverage, as opposed to Stated Value coverage, with your SF program in CA? I know SF underwriting varies from state to state. I can get regular-driver coverage for a vintage Ferrari with Stated Value, or Antique...extremely restrictive...coverage with Stated Value, but ...

I would only venture the obvious: while there are peaks and valleys in vintage Ferrari pricing over the years, the unmistakable trend is upward. There are plenty of people who have bought rough cars well, restored them, and used the resulting equity to move up-market. But obviously, you need two th...

Yeah baby - how about a 330 4H, bagged with 20" rims, Blower, Flamethrower exhaust, custom interior and pearl paint. Waddya tink homey. I entertained similar ideas for mine...not so extreme, more along the lines of 6 carbs, engine and exhaust tweaking to match, cold-air box with well-integrated hoo...

Tom: You're getting there with the 10%...but add another 15 to it. My own thoughts on your situation, assuming you could net $250K from selling the America: -Just selling and banking the money isn't going to work for you...forget that. -The obvious path is to stay right where you are...keep the Amer...
