GTE Dome Light
One more question. Is the roof dome light supposed to turn on when the door(s) are opened? From a wiring diagram I recently saw, it looks like the dome light is not wired to the door switches.

GTE Door Panel Installation
The GTE door panels have 8 spring clips to hold them to the door. It's easy to get the bottom 5 clips engaged into the door when installing the door panels, but the other 3 clips are another story. Does anyone have experience installing the door panels who can provide hints on how to install the doo...

250 GTE Spark Plug Question
Have always used Champion N-3, but recently tried NGK BP5ES. The NGK plugs go in about 8 threads, and it appears the electrode hits something in the cylinder head before reaching the gasket.(?) Obviously the electrode is a little different on the NGK. What other plug is suitable for the outside plug...

Re: Question on Strength of Materials
John - I've used "Delrin" bar stock for several bushing applications. It's by Dupont, and is available all over the internet in all kinds of sizes and colors. About the perfect hardness and strength for front-end bushings. Machines well with a mill/lathe.

Re: GTE Muffler Question
So maybe the picture will work this time. It worked before in preview but then I remember I had to enter a password. Sorry about that. I ended up installing the complete exhaust system with all the fiberglass removed from all six mufflers, and the muffler housings taped shut...

Re: Another fuel pump question. FISPA 150
Hi Rudy! That sounds like a good idea. The two gaskets add up to about .060 thickness. I'm going to take some more careful measurements tomorrow and figure out what to do. Do you think the spacer is needed to thermally isolate the pump from the engine?

Re: GTE Muffler Question
Hi Tom - Thanks for your comment. I was going to temporarily re-install the exhausts tomorrow with the cut open muffler shells taped back together with high temp duct tape to quickly check the sound level/quality, before I weld the muffler cases back together. Might need to reinstall SOME new fiberg...

Re: Another fuel pump question. FISPA 150
Thanks for the replies. I've always had to use the electric pump in addition to the mechanical pump to keep the engine running. I disassembled the pump to check the condition of the diaphragm, which is in very good shape. The fuel pump check valves are in great shape, too. I checked the stroke on th...

Re: GTE Muffler Question
Update: Cut the 6 mufflers open and removed a massive amount of tightly packed white colored fiberglass (hope it was not asbestos!). This is on a stock ANSA system. Will weld the mufflers back together w/o the packing and report how it sounds.

Another fuel pump question. FISPA 150
Disassembled the mechanical fuel pump and everything looks just fine. But the mechanical pump won't keep the engine running w/o adding the electric boost. Measured everything and it looks like the pump rod in the engine is too short, or the spacer is too thick. Were there different length rods or sp...
