Re: Ignition system

Yes the round tube resistors, but he mentioned capacitors thus the capacitor answer in case it was there. Glad to see continued interest in questions for the "early" cars.

Re: Ignition system

On some vehicles that a radio was added by the dealer, they installed a capacitor on the coil to reduce radio interference especially on the AM and SW broadcast bands. This may be the item you mentioned. This practice was done on 330, 250 and earlier vehicles that a radio was added.

Re: 330GT 2+2 power steering problem

Jim, where would I locate the valve in the system, and is it serviceable? Power steering is a little rare on these early cars so I have not worked with them in the past. thanks, Jim

Re: 330GT 2+2 power steering problem

Dyke, Yes we did that cycle to bleed it, but I was wondering if there was something else that would make it quit? It works well for just a short time then stops working. No noise or anything. Think it still is an air problem? thanks

330GT 2+2 power steering problem

The power steering on our late 330GT2+2, series II works great at first start up, and also for few hundred yards driving. After that it looses it's power assistance. Belts are tight, no leaks, fluid is new. Just wondering if there is any other service needed like bleeding, etc.?

Re: Air filter assembly

One way to get the dents out that I have used on our 330 was to have the "paintless dent" removal guy tap them out. It took him about an hour to get them all smoothed out, and the cost was reasonable too. I also agree, no media blasting on anything near the intakes.,

Re: FRAM oil filter - worst in quality test

Dyke, right on target with your analysis, and the dealers quest to use the company filters. Aside from using the correct application of the Fram's, it seems like that U tube video cursed all Fram oil filters thus causing all the concern. As you and I have always said the factory knew what they were ...

Re: FRAM oil filter - worst in quality test

Dyke, I have heard that the FNA Ferrari dealers put the UFI filters on the 275's and 330's when in for service fluid service. I do not know anything about these filters, but I continue to use Fram PH2815 on 275 and 330 engines. Just wondering about the UFI's.

Tom and Dyke your inputs on this are right on target. If anything good can be obtained from a judging report it would be a list of items that were noted and then research or correct them for next time.

Re: Tell me about the old days!

We had quite the tech gang with Dyke, Hill, and Roush. We all chatted and helped each other and the FCA members with the details on Ferrari mysteries. The long distant company phone lines were buzzing daily with our chatter. Back "then" not many shops were available to support this new Italian hoppy...

Re: Ferrari 250 Gte Change from Generator to Alternator?

The same question has been asked about the Lusso electrical system. Although the Lusso was in production at the same time as the 2+2, the installation of alternators were much later in the s/n range. Jim
