Re: Trouble starting my GTC
Hi Steve, do I understand you correctly that your car has a separate starter button installed on the dash? To me this all sounds like a faulty ignition switch, It could just have heavy deposits or corrosian on the internal contacts. If it were me I'd remove the ignition switch and bench test it. I'd...

Re: 250GT Distributor Caps
I have another question. The hoop at the base of the distributor that the wires go thru when they leave the cap, there is a black rubber insulation there. Can someone tell me of this is a round grommet or else? Thank you. john I just replaced both of mine, it is a standard rubber grommet, I found a...

Re: clutch woes
I removed my clutch and unfortunately I didn't find the smoking gun. I re-checked everything, the new disc and pressure plate all seem to be up to the published dimensional specs. I even had the disc oriented correctly, imagine that! I found no interference or anything else that my be dragging on th...

Re: clutch woes
Tom (in SoCal), Have you consulted your service manual and established your clutch specs are within given tolerances ? Yes I did use all the manuals and references available, but when I get it taken apart again I'll start at the beginning and measure/check everything. My wishful thinking has me wan...

Re: clutch woes
Tom: When you resurfaced the flywheel, did you check to make sure the flywheel-to-crank bolts still clear the disc when the disc is laid on the flywheel. I did not check for this condition, I will certainly do so, something is hanging up the clutch from properly releasing. It confirms that I will n...

clutch woes
Before I remove the clutch again on my 330 GTC I thought I would run the situation by the group in case someone has a better idea. Here's the situation; I needed to replace my clutch due to wear, so I lightly resurfaced the flywheel, bought a new pressure plate and had the clutch disc re-lined. I al...

Re: Seat Reclining Mechanism
I recall there were several ball bearings in both channels, so it is possible it could work with one out.

Re: Seat Reclining Mechanism
I have no comments about the recliner mechanism, and my experince is with a gtc, but when I took my seats apart to clean and lubricate the sliders, I seem to remember the sliders used some larger ball bearing that could indeed get loose.

amp meter reading question
When I turn the key to the "on" position and with everything off, my amp meter shows a slight discharge, about a needles width of movement. I believe this is normal, but I'm not sure how much discharge is normal. I'm paranoid because I did quite a bit of refurbishment of my fuse panel, relays and ma...

Re: Rocker moulding clip for GTC
Go to Tom's home page, look under "links" for the company I referred to above, or just google the name, download the catalog, page 165, or browse around, they have an extensive selection of moulding clips.

Re: Cooling fans
I just went through the Lucas cooling fan deal. My car came with one original Lucas and a later replacement so I bought a used lucas from a Jag and it ran backwards to what I needed, the funny thing was that there is a little curved arrow on the front cover that I assumed was the rotation direction ...
