Re: Our friends in the path of Sandy

We were very lucky. Trees behind the house gave way in the high winds but fell away from the house. We lost power at 5:30 Monday night but got it back 10:30 Tuesday night. Dinner and reading in bed by candle light was fun for a night or two but if the freezer had unfroze on Wednesday the fun would h...

Re: My 365GT2+2's smoking habit

At the risk of appearing realllly dumb, I would ask if it is possible that you have overfilled the oil sump. I did that inadvertantly thinking I was down a quart of oil and wound up having smoke appear constantly, in an engine that had been rebuilt and did not smoke. I am practicing what my business...

Re: 250 GTE floor

I guess as with all things Ferrari, variation is the rule rather than the exception. When I redid my floors on 4969 there was only a top layer and bottom layer of metal sandwiching the fiberglass. There was also a sort of cross brace that was under the seats and had holes of for (I guess) seat belt ...

Re: GTE MIRROR ON EBAY

Were the lighted mirrors on all 250 GTEs?

Tom Y, I don't remember your 330 America having one and mine certainly doesn't have a light. I know that my mirrror has been on the car since Ed bought it in 1967 and I believe it was original then.

Re: GTE/GT Power Antenna - Which is Correct?

Don't you think a little WD-40 would do as well?

Re: GTE/GT Power Antenna - Which is Correct?

I bought a period Hirschmann antenna when I first got the car six years ago from Hirshmann when they were in New Jersey. Yale gave me the contact. They are no longer there. It replaced a manual antenna that was mounted in the right rear. From the paint around the hole, the manual antenna that was th...

Hi. I just went and looked at the headliner and 028 is the pattern I have as well.

Re: Windshield Washer Pump

Thanks Kerry. We missed you last weekend. I also searched this site and found a very old post (I think it was yours) pointing to Dennis McCann and giving part number 4105576 which his site quotes at $40. Too late to call tonight. The picture that John Vardanian posted on FChat is exactly like the on...

Windshield Washer Pump

The floor pump mechanism in the car is not working. You can pump it forever and no water will squirt out of the sprayers. I thought that there might be a possibility of rebuilding it. Tom Y said that it was only held in by two nuts so I removed it a little while ago. It certainly doesn't appear to b...

Re: The 2009 Radcliffe Motorcar/ Tomyang.net Spring Event

I am planning on meeting Yale in NYC and then driving down with him. When I spoke to Radcliffe las week they said that they had about 60 cars registered.

I look forward to seeing you all.

Re: Weeping Heater Hoses

Well, I have to admit that the idea of tasting the sort of gooey stuff is not very appealing, it would probably ruin my minimal ability to enjoy a decent bottle of Burgundy. I did do the finger roll and smell tests but other then it was kind of greasy and didn't have much of a smell I couldn't tell ...

Weeping Heater Hoses

A few weeks ago I opened the hood to check up on things and maybe clean another item or two. To my surprise, the heater hoses coming up on the wheel enclosure on the driver;s side were very shiny and wet. I put my finger on the wet area and it seemed to be thickish radiator fluid. I looked all aroun...

Overdrive

Armed with Kare's instructions and a multimeter I pulled the car out to drive to my friend Peter's place (ERA in New Britain, Ct) so that one person could look at the voltmeter while the other shifted into fourth and then overdrive, etc. Needless to say as I hit the highway I was wondering whether I...

Thanks again for the comments and suggestions. I will be back in the garage this weekend and will do the tests and post the results.

Kare:

I think you are probably right about doing too much wiring but I am very grateful for the obsessive instructions. I am not in Connecticut until next weekend so I can't follow your instructions until then. I will let you know.

Thanks VERY much.
