Re: Updates from Monterey

What a week!!!!!!! lots of great cars and great people. I drove the 550 Maranello up and back, it was also the official support vehicle all weekend so even the two seat ferraris have some use :-) Thanks to Tom Yang for putting on a first class event and bringing such a great group of people together...

Re: Who's Coming To The Monterey Gathering?

Hey Tom, sorry to hear that. Is David at the show Tomorrow with the PF Coupe?? You can give him my number if he needs anything. I will be around all day and am staying in a house just at the bottom of the hill in Carmel so I will not be far away. Hope things get better tomorrow

Re: Who's Coming To The Monterey Gathering?

For those interested the previously mentioned Khakis event at the Lumberyard in Carmel is still happening this year on Saturday afternoon. It is no longer called Khakis but they have a big sign up on US 1 advertising it that I just drove by, Monterey seams to start a day earlier ever year. Off to go...

Re: Painting Parts

I think in the biz we like to refer to spray paint as " Restoration in a can" and no matter if it is the Pebble winning Rolls or the garage clean up job they all use spray paint. The first place I worked at didn't believe in plating hardware because you couldn't touch it up with a paint brush!! Blas...

Re: A big step forward for 4247 GT

Good Reporting Tom, and yes this car was one of the more rust free Ferraris that I've seen in a long time. I am just happy it started out as a complete car so at least we know all the pieces are there, the last 6 or 7 cars I have done have all come in boxes so just knowing the parts are there is a w...

Re: Mixed Feelings

Well Tom let me just say that I hope that you parting with your car does not stop you from contributing to this or joining us at the various Ferrari events. I have truly enjoyed corresponding with you over the years and bouncing car ideas and fixes for the various problems encountered while you were...

Re: Floor Pans

Cornelias, we did consider leaving the floor pans but the corrosion on the rear pans was significant enough to warrant the removal of the bottoms for further inspection. No amount of blasting or chemical stripping will get rid of the insulation sandwich and water that gets trapped in between the flo...

Re: Heater hose for Ferrari

Glad your happy with the hose Craig, I wouldn't lead you astray. A little note two that if you want to remove the white writing a little brake cleaner takes it right off and if you want to bring the like new look just spray the hose with a little silicone spray and wipe with a towel. On another note...

Re: Heater hose for Ferrari

I hear you Craig, I am way to obsessed with the details myself. for what its worth you can always get the Copiglia clamp kits from the Mercedes restoration shops for not a lot of money and start with fresh band & cotter keys, it even comes in a nice little plastic case with a lid here are pictures o...

Re: Heater hose for Ferrari

Here is what I use Aeroquip model 2556 -8 hose same dimensions as original slightly smaller space between lines in the wrap but it will pass. I think its $1.59 a foot so just a bit more than parts store smooth rubber hose I buy all my Aeroquip stuff from Murdock Industrial which has the web distribu...

Re: GTE Safety Belts

Here is a set of the useless(original) belts that Dyke (DRW46)is referring to. Unless they are cinched down so tight you can't breath they just pop loose at every bump you hit, I imagine they would no fair much better in an actual accident. I remember one rally I was on with my 8 year old daughter n...

Re: Anybody see one of these before?

Pretty cool, I have seen several different styles but not one quite like what you have there. Now people can see why these things got discarded, 5-10 feet of bulky 8 gauge wire to run a simple light when all you need is a little battery operated flashlight. Not to mention where are you supposed to k...

Re: 250GT Connecting Rod

I completly agree with your points Kare and understand your logic, the last thing I am trying to do is sell people new parts when's theirs are just fine. My point was why not remove the x-factor from the equation or at least reduce the risk. Obviously one of Johns con rods has reached it's failure p...
