Re: 250GT Connecting Rod

Dear Kare,

The C - C length is 5.590 inches. The pin end bore is 1.050, the journal end bore is 2.1145, and the thickness at both ends is .940 inches.

The red line for the 500 motors is 7000 RPM and for the larger 750 and 860 Monzas it was 6000.

Re: 250GT Connecting Rod

Here comes more opinions. In 1954 and 1955 there were an unusual number of four cylinder Ferraris which experienced conn rod failure. There are a couple of opinions around which attempted to explain why this happened. One was that Ferrari underestimated the tension force generated by the relatively ...

Re: 250GT Connecting Rod

Dear Tom,

The really monster comparison in my mind is the dramatic difference in pistons. The diameter of my pistons shown below is over 3.5 inches and for a really big piston check out the size of the ones in the 860 Monzas at 4 inches.

Re: 250GT Connecting Rod

Dear Tom,

Not to start with a disagreement but the Testa Rossa (two words) (TR 500) tipo 131C motor was a two liter motor and that rod certainly looks like mine.

See attached.

Seeing shiny cars on lawns is my least favorite activity,
Dear Tom,

How about shiny little blue cars on ramps?

Re: Pertronix kit to replace points in S85

One more apology to Craig for getting off topic but the photo Tom posted of the little blue car getting a gentle push on the thin aluminum at Pebble Beach requires a bit more explanation. The starter worked just fine and as Cornelis noted it is a manual starter. The initial motion of the handle enga...

Re: Cooling System Part Finishes/Colors

Insulation and physical isolation make no difference. The fluid acts as the electrolyte and the sacrificial metal will be some of the alloy in the system. That is the reason that many years ago Dyke Ridgley was selling the magnesium inserts for Ferrari radiators. It remains a good idea today. Best r...

Dear Yale,

I would submit that the annual Radcliffe/Tomyang.net Spring Car Show is as close as you are going to get to the desired experience.

Re: FCA Nationals in New Jersey

Dear Yangsters, If you look closely just to the right of the "Ricky Bobby" drivers glove you can see the little blue car on the track having the time of its life. After one of the track sessions I pulled into the pits and the car started spewing antifreeze. Zac and David and Bryan immediately starte...

Re: Lost both washers for the front hubs!

Dear Ed, Sorry but you are a couple of days late for me to help, I just finished reassembling mine Tuesday evening. Although my car is a different model, I would strongly suspect that Ferrari didn't change things like this very often. You are correct that the washer face towards the castellated nut ...
