The rubber pickup hose may very well be part of the problem as can the pressure regulator that controls the bypass, check the spring and piston in that assembly for dirt or sludge. Another possibility for oil pressure dropping when you let off of the gas is main bearing wear. Excess clearence in the...

When drilling holes in painted surface apply masking tape over the areas to be drilled to prevent the paint around the hole from chipping. I usually coat the inside of the hole with touch up paint to prevent any rust from starting. And as stated previous use a very small drill to drill a pilot hole....

You are correct, the early cars did not come with outside mirrors as the dealers who sold the cars usually sold them and the radios as an extra profit items. Look in the Moss Motors catalog, the British cars all used them and these repos are pretty good. There are no concorse deductions if they are ...

One tip on rebuilding these pumps is to never touch the face of the seal, as this oil from your fingers will lenthen the time it takes for the seal to seat. Run the engine for some time, road trip, and see if the seal will seat itself. Never use any type of water pump lube, or sealer additives in th...

William, the trans is filled when the oil just starts to run out of the filler hole on the side. When draining, let it run over night so as to allow time for the heavy oil to fully drain. If possible use a new copper washer on the drain plug as it helps keep that smelly oil from dripping on the gara...

Tom, the tank sender has the fuel gauge in series with the sender, and the 12V is applied in this way. If you put 12V directly on the sender and move the arm to the low resistance point you will burn the resistive winding out. A safer method is to use an ohmeter and watch the range of resistance cha...

Bill, if your owners manual calls for 30A in the fan circuit then if you cannot find them try the 25A and if it blows then keep looking. 30A in any automotive application is really a heavy load for the wires to carry, and more than likely the wire may burn before the fuse blows. That is the way the ...

William, looks like the spring rearc that someone did long ago was the problem. The springs usually will not settle much with the car sitting in the garage; it is the bouncing and flexing on the road that will do the most good. It does sound like the rearcing was way too much, if the extra weight do...

William, the nice thing about working on a Ferrari is that it is not your everyday car, and thus you can take your time and chip away at it. I find that if I just complete one item at a time and do not try to do everything together; it is that much smoother. And the best advise is if you need help s...

William, as we spoke today and the parts drawing a few messages above shows, the rear shakle is near vert, posible with a slight tilt inward. The front shakle is also near vert with a slight tilt to the rear. In any event they should not be filpped either way toward horizontal. In no way do the wire...

William, any chance the shackles that attach the back of the leaf springs have flipped over? The cables are there to prevent this from happening when the cables are at the proper length. The rubber donuts are very expensive so be sure you need one. To flip the shackles over is a major and dangerous ...

Bill, the Littlefuse styles are the "glass torpedo" style, that is what they make for the Euro fuse replacement. The 16A is the closest to the 15A I guess. What model car are you using these on, as the 250's use a 16A max fuse size, and the 330's possibly 25A on A/C cars?

Bill, since the 25 & 30A fuses are not standards, try some of the off the road dune buggy places and VW hot rod & VW off road camper conversion places. These guys fit big high current driving lights and may carry the Euro style fuses in that amp range. The 25A euro fuses ( blue ceramic) are still be...

Any VW or possibly other German dealers should have the ceramic ones. Littlefuse makes the glass version with pointy ends that are available from most autoparts stores. Other than for concorse appearances the glass fuses are more reliable as they do not tend to corrode around the contact ends, and d...

Two comments on the above. If you make your own bracket put on a felt pad or bumber so the back of the bracket does not dig into the trunk paint. I use the plastic license plate bolts (4) to hold the US plate on by having the head toward the trunk with the threads pointing outward then get 1/4 20 ac...
