Is this the GTE ring and pinion the same as used on the 330GT? Mine is a 8/34
BTW I ordered a universal joint from http://www.autoepoca.it/ferrari-parts/ for $500 shipped. He is checking on the availibility of the ring and pinion. The listed price on his site is 1800E.

need ring and pinion
The ring and pinion on my 1967 330 GT is bad. Any ideas on where to find a new or used one? Is there a crossover for another car?

Re: drive line noise
Greetings... You could look in the bottom drawer of the cabinet just inside the door to my garage. Brand shiny (well, as shiny as they can be) new. Let me know. Tim For whatever reason I cannot get a PM to send. It's either stuck in the outbox or it says you don't exist. In any case I am interested...

Re: drive line noise
Local balancing place could not balance the driveshaft because of the way they mount them. The universal joint appears to be bad so we are going to replace it, but GP Car Parts did not have the 100mm size that my car takes. Trying Dennis McCann next. But if he doesn't have it any suggestions as to w...

Re: drive line noise
Thanks Tom.
I'll have to drive it again to tell you more about the whine.
I'll let you know what we find.

Re: drive line noise
Wheels were tightened, but that didn't help. I'll check the balance of each. Bruce (working on the car) thinks it might be the driveshaft. He's at VIR so I cannot do any more until Monday. What bushing are you speaking of? I forgot to mention that my car has a high speed whine--something like straig...

Re: drive line noise
The noise is in tune with wheel speed. Put the clutch in and the noise is still there.
You feel it in the seat.

drive line noise
Looking for what could be causing a drive line noise at highway speeds. It doesn't be noticeable until you reach 60 mph or so. There might be some vibration as well.
Any ideas?

Re: is my clutch bad?
Thanks for the info. I took the easy way out and took it to my friendly mechanic as I cannot lift the car high enough to work underneath.

Thanks Tom. I didn't know that the clutch was adjustable. I'll try that.

Today going up a mild grade when I accelerated the clutch was slipping. A rapid start from standstill and the clutch didn't seem slip. Another hard accerlation in 4th on level road and it again the clutch is slipping. Is the bad news that I need a new clutch in my 1967 330 GT?

Re: lots of engine heat coming into car
Rebuilding the 2 shutoff valves did the trick. Now it's much cooler. They were letting hot water through even though closed.

Re: lots of engine heat coming into car
Whoops. 1967 330 GT 2+2 8767 George Davidson Do you think not having the pan on the bottom makes a difference? The control valves are stuck open, but the thermostat control is closed or off. Guess that is not enough? I have just started to look at insulation starting with Dynamat, but know there are...
