Re: original fuel hose ferrules
Timo, here's my opinion, I'm nearly certain that I could do a set of ferrules in 1/2 the time spent the first time, and if I made a holding cup and did it under a hand press I could probably do one set in half an hour. It probably makes no sense to go through this hassle unless you are obsessed with...

Re: original fuel hose ferrules
Tom, Would you care to estimate the total amount of time, including R & D of the pins, this little project took ? Oh I don't know..maybe an hour to do the experiment with an old socket wrench, then another hour or so to make the pins, then another 1.5 to do the actual expansion on 12 ferrules, then...

Re: original fuel hose ferrules
Thanks Tom, understood. Would you be able to use a one-shot pin if you heated the ferrules to a dim glow? john I didn't even try doing it in one shot as the undersize pin took some care to manually align and push in, It might be possible but heating things up would require some way other than your ...

Re: original fuel hose ferrules
Sure John, look at the first picture showing the pins and ferrules, the final inside diameter (ID) I wanted for the ferrule for the 8mm hose was .668" but using a pin of this finish size first is a bit much to expand the ferrule in one shot so I used a smaller .658 pin first to make it easier to pus...

original fuel hose ferrules
I thought I'd share a technique I used to re-use the original fuel line ferrules on the new larger hoses. I know that you can buy new larger ferrules and cut them down but I liked the idea of using the original thicker wall steel ones. I made some pins to resize them by pressing into the ID, I used ...

Re: Daytona Driveability Problem
Have you considered the accelerator pump circuit? I'm suggesting this based only on general carburetor experience.

I'm looking for a new set of brushes for the MT 21 starter, I've contacted the usual guys, no one has them in stock or is able to provide availability. Any leads?

Measure from center of the spinner, this will eliminate any variance in wheels, tires, inflation, floor surface.

Re: GTC Hood Bumpers/Supports
Hi Steve, all the ones on my car are low round head phillips head sheet metal screws, like the type commonly used on old car door panel. There is also one of those counter sunk washers under the screw, like the type sometimes used in upholstery applications...what are those washers called? Both scre...

Re: 250GTE Rear Springs and Shocks
I would call a company named Eaton Detroit Springs, they have a web site. I used them to make leaf springs for a rare Prewar American classic. Although they amazingly had the partial spring specifications for my car they are very knowledgeable and may be able to either reverse engineer or guide you ...

Re: Radiator over flow hose
I don't know if the hose on the GTC is the same as the GT but my original ribbed hose measures 15.5 mm (.610") on the OD, of course this may not account for any swelling or shrinkage, but my hose seems to be in fair condition and still somewhat pliable.

My voltage regulator is to the left of the steering column, under the dash on the firewall behind the vinyl cover. It's the original small black Lucas, type 4TR. The car is a 1968 GTC 11157

I can't say about Ferrari but many vintage cars need the accelerator pump volume reduced under high hot conditions. The symptom are a stumble and cough when moving off from a stop.

Re: cam timing off?
Hi Tom, Have you taken a look at the tops of the valves when you took the adjusters out? Although there is not much you can do about wear on the top of the valve, you can at least take a note to see if there is any damage. You can also see if the axial play in the rockers is affecting the way the a...

Re: cam timing off?
Nice post Tom, and well understood. Ok, I checked the valve timing with zero lash, of course I needed to watch the intake opening with a dial indicator instead of by feel, it was much better...only appearing to be off by about 4 or 5 degrees. Since the car was running well, I've decided to leave the...
