I noticed that modern cars even have super thin oil for manual transmissions. My Subaru has ATF in the 5-speed manual trans, and the Mercedes-Benz 300SL and other manual transmissions use the same. I would not think that using thinner oil will make the rear axle any louder, I put 80/90 in all Ferrar...

Seems like too infrequently people shoot there cars red when the real men paint there car Brown in a shade of the Lusso that has been shown around lately. How about a 246 Dino that is Dino Orange? Everyone is spraying on red or yellow. I saw a late 60's color that was a very light green with red int...

The easiest way to set valve lash is to remove the distributor cap and note where the brass contacts are on the inside of it. You will see that there is a brass contact w/screw every 30 degrees. Visually recognize where the points would line up on the distributor body and use a sharpie marker to loc...

I feel that the market is healthy and strong. Buyers want to own V-12 Ferraris, they want to drive them and enjoy them. There are very few speculative buyers out there right now. Everyone who has purchased cars from me in 2006 has done so because they want to drive the car, not flip it to another de...

Did someone say there is an oil filter that looks the best!! I have seen the innards of a fram vrs Baldwin, whether you need it or not, the baldwin had a robust plast tube inside where the standpipe on the fram looked exactly like a toilet paper cardboard tube. My thought is not worrying about blow-...

I had a car that would not run without the electric pump. I rebuilt the mechaincal pump but still, not working. After a sleepless night, I thought that I would replace the pressure regulator diaphragm located on top of the glass filter, problem solved.

Go to a local heavy truck repair place and ask for a PTO control cable. You will remove the inner wire and replace it with your cable. If that doesn't work, ask the parts guy what else he may have. Don't mention the word Ferrari!!

Bring the cable with you to make sure it fits inside the housing.

I overhauled a 400I 5-Speed, engine and trans went in as a unit.

The trans is pretty easy to fit into the car once the engine is in place as I have removed a few in recent years.

Let the awful photography be a lesson to anyone posting a car for sale. Don't take photos in direct sunlight and make sure there are no shadows when shooting. Cloudy days or at dusk is best. I feel that with the bad camera and lousy light you cannot tell much about the car. It does look like on of t...

I overhauled a GTC engine recenty and replaced the seals with the common "suspect" seals. After 8,000 miles the seal started leaking. It would seem that the seals would leak from new until breaking in but it seems as though the industry problem according to numerous other shops is the spring somehow...

My suggestion of welding on a nut is only a last ditch effort. Most of the time with a little heat the parts come right out with no drama. Keep in mind that if you scar up the end of the push rod with pliers it should not damage anything as long as it is not near the area going into the guide. (tear...
